In June we made a stop at Jamie Two-Coats Toy Shop in Shelburne, VT (and you thought they only had quilts!) and found Sven, waiting for the holidays in the attic of this great toy store. My plan is to celebrate every month that I'm 50 and he was coming along for the ride!! We would start my June celebration.
A test run at Keepsake quilting.
He gets around, that's for sure!!
Five states in one day!!
NYC skyline in the background! This fella knows how to party!!
My July celebration was spent with good friends at Eagle Crest. Looks like he got a start on the champagne glass on the left!Looks like he had a little more then champagne to celebrate!! (a crazy woman from Australia was a bad influence on him!) lol
But he did help finish a quilt made for AAQI.
Sven is getting ready for his August celebration. GPS. check....
Map...check...GPS..uncheck..can't figure it out.
50 years and 3 months and I'm still going strong!! Watch for a post next week on my Get to Goal blog to see how Sven helped me celebrate!!
PS It's been a crazy week, I hope you enjoyed my goofy post!!
PSS 600th post! Leave a comment of any kind and I'll choose a name next Monday for a giveaway. I'm thinking maybe a little quilt from my stash.....

Sven sure gets around much more than I do. Thanks for the enjoyable start to my day! Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteLori,
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your blog, with your adventures with you Mom and your generosity with your AAIQ quilt donations. I want to do that, but right now there are too many things on my plate, but this winter I should have some.

It's so nice to know that I'm not the only one who enjoyed turning 50. I celebrated like crazy that year, as well, Lori. There's something about turning 50 that is hard to explain. It needs to be experienced. LOL
ReplyDeleteSven is definitely a party animal. LOL
Love your goofy post - had me snickering. LOL (knowing me, that shouldn't surprise you)
I never miss your great blog and, of, course I love Sven!
ReplyDeleteI can really appreciate this post since I met Sven in person!! So, have you tackled the latest JT2?
ReplyDeleteBetsy
I have the applique prepped and it's on my to-do list today!!
DeleteI am going to use the Karen Kay Buckley circles but have to borrow them from Ann. I started the paper pieced block. I think I counted 77 pieces. Yikes!
DeleteI am not paper piecing any this months!! And I don't count either! lol
DeleteYou go girl!! 50 is the new 30! hehehe
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the adventures with Sven. I'm hoping that I will be able to celebrate 55 with such fun. My life was on a downturn at 50 (not age related at all) but things are looking up so a celebration year is in order!
ReplyDeleteThis is just way too funny. I'd say Sven knows how to have a good time! Way more fun that Flat Stanley.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a Swede, I love your Nisse, Sven. The two of you really get around!! Thanks for your wonderful blog.
ReplyDeleteI like your buddy, good for traveling, doesn't need to many pit stops.... Have fun hiking!
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to celebrate being 50! You are an inspiration, love reading about your weight loss/health gain journey AND your quilts! x2ldp@aol.com

ReplyDeleteWOW 600 posts for such a young lady - quite impressive. Must have started blogging as a teen.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful 50th year. You are really getting around. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great adventure you're bound to have during your jubilee birthday. We should all celebrate each month in a special way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little guy that Sven is! (but then, I was always partial to little old men).
ReplyDeleteSven is so fun...great post! It will be fun following his adventures.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're having LOTS of fun with your new little friend! Congratulations on your milestone year! Hope it's a GREAT one!

ReplyDeleteSven looks like he's having a ball and it was fun to see him. I love your tumbler quilt, I think I see one in my future as I have already bought the template for it. Enjoy your celebrations!
ReplyDeleteDid Sven come to Coburg? would love to have met him, showed him around the booth, maybe a carriage ride? Love the blogs (getting to goal too!!)
ReplyDeleteLaurie
Sven sure gets around! If you need him to come visit South Carolina, let me know .... we'll see what we can arrange.

ReplyDeleteP
We've got to get goofy once in a while. Fun little post.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have been having lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see Sven at your sewing machine! What kind of fabrics he'll choose for his project, and can he "get" the 1/4 inch seam...
ReplyDeletecongrats on #600~!!~
ReplyDeletethat Sven is quite the wild character. and yet, he helped with that cute little tumbler . . . what a guy~!
in that first shot it looks like he's been tied to the bumper . . . i hope that you're both aware that that could go very wrong~!
would Sven like to add Nevada to his/your list~??!!
there's some hard apple cider in the fridge . . . and ALWAYS quilty things to do at my house.
:-D

That looks like a fun trip, I want to head north in the fall and will definitely hit the quilted crow and keepsake. I love when someone has a mascot to take on trips, so fun to see them visiting places, lol.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I'd love to win a quilt from your stash. Would love to be 50 again.-sigh!
ReplyDeleteAs Sven found out, you can do five states in one day on the east coast. You've got the really big states out west. A group of us academic recruiters have a bobble head guy that comes with us on our work trips. He's been to six continents. I am wondering if you knew people with all those license tags or were strangers looking at you oddly?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun little guy! I love the little tumbler quilt - evidently he's got good taste too :0) 600 posts! WOW! I sure enjoy them - there's always something inspiring to find on your blog!
ReplyDeleteSven is in great company always, surrounded by quilters and friends! Glad he's accompanying you on this 50th celebration. I'm at 50 years and 9 months...
ReplyDeleteCongrats for making it to 600 posts!
An enjoyable light-hearted post. But I especially liked the part at the end about the give-away. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting some whimsey in my day.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 600 posts! And happy 50th too!
ReplyDeleteHappy 50th+3 months! Enjoyed meeting Sven.
ReplyDeleteSven is very cute , I'm glad that he is helping you celebrate your 50th year. Looks like it is going to be a fun year.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those little Nisse also. Mine is a little rounder and hangs from a string (like he's climbing up it). So fun - it belonged to my mom. Congratulations on your 50th year - celebrating every month? Wish I'd though of that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to celebrate your 50th. I planned to make a quilt with 50 blocks and make each block represent in some way one year. For example, sew an old Girl Scout patch to one square, sew an old pair of my eyeglasses (!) to another patch, make another block out of an old dress, etc...Great idea, right? We'll, I'm 52 now and still haven't started....Sally jspwarrenataoldotcom
ReplyDeleteHow FUN, and that's what life is about! I'm happy to see you embracing your Jubilee!

ReplyDeleteWOW, Sven sure has a great time getting around. Congrats on your birthday and your 600th post.
ReplyDelete600 posts! Wow! Congratulations...
ReplyDeleteLori, you're a great inspiration to me. I wish I had done at 50 what you are doing. Instead, I turned 60 this year and I'm trying to start an exercise program and diet. It's a hard thing to do, and I give you much credit. The Nike slogan..just do it...sums it all up, doesn't it. Congratulations on getting to goal. I will get there too, someday.
ReplyDeletehappy 50 + 3 months! Love Sven. Great idea with the license plates. Congrats on all those posts, too!

ReplyDeleteI've had birthdays and birthday weeks but never a birthday year! What a great idea! Happy 50th!
ReplyDeleteMelissa
Why not have a jubilee all year?!? Love the adventures you and Sven are having. If I had known when you were hitting Keepsake Quitling I could have had my daughter hop on over there with her car and Sven could have been "in" Utah, too. : )
ReplyDeleteMy son had a small garden gnome that he did the same fun things with when he spent tap years in the Seattle area
ReplyDeleteLove the spools quilt Sven helped make ;-)
ReplyDeleteFun post! Who needs a GPS when you have a navigator like Sven along on your trip?
ReplyDeleteSuper fun post following Sven's adventures! Great way to celebrate your special year!

ReplyDeleteso many posts! i for one am enjoying your dedication!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful post, as always. We never know what to expect from your inventive mind, and we're never disappointed. I'm only 1/8 Dane, so I doubt that anyone named Sven would spend time with me, but he looks like great fun to be around -- even when he's a bit "under the corks."
ReplyDeleteA big HURRAH sent from me to you, in honor of your 600 posts. Here's to many, many more.
sounds like you had a FAB time and Sven certainly didn't miss out either LOL!!! cheers...Marian [celebrating my 60th doing the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb 25Aug]
