Sven was with me, but I kept him as ground crew in case he didn't care for free falling.
Pre-flight and pre-jump instruction included how we were to be situated in the plane. The very small plane, I might add,
We will be attached at this point and crawl forward on our knees.
Then he will step out....
Then I will step out and assume the position! Arms crossed, in tight, ready to fly!Once we're out the door the most important thing is for me to do what I've been told ahead of time. It is so noisy falling at 100+mph that you can't hear a thing.
Time for the gear.
A quick prayer.....no, not really. Ok, how are we all going to fit? The pilot is wearing the sandals, (he will be the only one in a seat) the guy with the white tennis shoes will be attached to me and the two other guys are going out for fun. Yep, that's 5 of us in that plane.
It was like putting together a puzzle, but they know how everything fits. (very cozy!) I had to put a seat belt on too and that was pretty comical. The door closed and we were up up and away...
It was cloudier then we really wanted so we had to climb to 11, 500.
Love this photo.
Ta-Da!! Landed safely and it was so awesome!
Oh, my gosh. What a finale and an incredible jubilee year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to end the year! I ended my 50th year by getting laid off from work .... but look where I am now. It was a blessing in disguise! Congratulations ... you are braver than I.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to celebrate your 50th--------you will have stories to tell for a long time. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! You must've been glad to get out of that cramped tiny plane .... even if it was 11,500 feet up!! Wouldn't have got me in it in the first place of course!
ReplyDeleteHilda
I admire you very much. You are so brave. It must have been quite an experience!!! I'm glad you had a safe landing!!!!
ReplyDeleteI knew it! You already climbed a mountain so the sky dive was all I could think of that might be a great climax to your exciting year. You are much, much braver than me. I would never willingly jump out of a plane. I don't like roller coasters, ferris wheels. None of that stuff. Now what is the next big milestone? Sixty?
ReplyDeleteCool! Glad it was you and not me! lol Congrats on a fabulous year!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you and sorry I could not make it over.
ReplyDeleteYou are much braver than I am, something you will never see me do, lol.

ReplyDeleteI think I would have sent Sven up and I would have stayed as ground crew! I'm pretty sure I'm the one that wouldn't like free falling. : )
A wonderful end to your 50th year. I hope you enjoyed it. My Neil went up a few years ago to raise Money for the Alzheimer's society. He was scared witless before hand but once down wanted to go back up.
ReplyDeleteLove to have seen Svens face.
