Here's a new project we (Karen, Cathy and I that I know of) are going to start mid-July. The basket quilt I did from Legends and Lace is similar, but what's not to love about an applique sampler?
I actually like this setting better than the one above. See more details at Karen's blog HERE. The price on Amazon is ridiculous, but if you have it on your shelf already, we'd love to have you join us. It is possible to find it on ebay as well.
I am working on a project that I can't share about and was hoping to get my Stars in a Time Warp done for this post, but was sidetracked with other matters yesterday.
Here's my Instagram feed from this week. The latest post is the upper left.... My mom is sick again and fell in her bathroom- thankfully not seriously hurt. You can see she was smiling in the photo but every time she is sick, she gets weaker physically and mentally.
I purchased this pattern from Norma at Timeless Traditions recently and have decided I will not make it. The pieces are so much larger than I anticipated. I had a plan to do it in wool, but changed my mind. You can read details about the pattern HERE.
If you'd like to win it, leave a comment telling me that and I'll draw a name Sunday evening.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I hope all gets better soon. I do love Jeanna Kimball's quilts so much and if I didn't have 12 million things going on right now I'd be there with you. I look forward to watching your progress. I also like your Instagram photo of the cemetery lane/Dead End. Too funny. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win the pattern. It looks like a fun quilt to make.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your mom, Lori. I love the quilt that you girls are going to be working on - it looks like a lot of different, fun blocks.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your mom Lori.. Hope she heals soon. I have that book, one of my favorite purchased pattern of all time. I am in! I also have some of the blocks made, I enlarged my blocks to 8'' and will continue in that size and the second layout you are showing here.
ReplyDeleteLove watching you and Karen make these amazing quilts! And sorry about your mom. An all too familiar song.
ReplyDeleteI hope your mom stays even and does not decline. I have contemplated buying that pattern several times, so please add me to the drawing list! Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear your Mom fell. My mother is 82 years-young and I take care of her so I can understand your pain as well. I would love to win Norma's pattern. She's another one of my fav bloggers!
ReplyDeleteDear Lori,
ReplyDeletehope your Mom will recover soon.
Thank you for the giveaway,
I would love to join in the drawing. Nice Pattern.
Greetings,
Sylvia
Hope your Mom is feeling better, sorry to hear of this latest mishap. I've never done a folk project but this would be a cute finish for my neck of the woods. That Jeanna Kimball applique pattern looks amazing. I was fortunate to take an applique class from her when she was in Massachusetts for The Quilters' Gathering over a decade ago. Amazing instructor, wonderful class and great memories that I shared with my Mom. 8 )
ReplyDeleteWatching our Moms age is so hard. My Mom is 86 and in a nursing facility. She does great for a while, then gets sick and things take a long time to heal. It is hard. I hope your Mom feels better soon. I love the quilt you are all going to work on together, applique is so pretty. I also love Christmas themed quilts so would love to have a chance to win the pattern. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteThe Winter Wonderland would be fantastic in wool. I would shrink it a bit to make it.

ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your Mom-hugs & prayers for her & you. Your SAL is beautiful; I'll enjoy following you, but it's way to involved for me with all my other UFO/WIP....however, I just LOVE Norma Whaley's patterns and Winter Wonderland is doable. Thank you for a chance to win.:)))
So sorry about yoyr mom. My mother is 84 and her health is beginning to fail. Very worrisome.
ReplyDeleteI do love a good quilt book! This looks very interesting and love to peruse those pages!

ReplyDeleteJust found your Blog through Me and My Stitches. I have downloaded the Legends pattern blocks. I love applique.
ReplyDeleteJeana Kimball has been around a long time and provides beautiful quilt patterns. It is so stressful when a family member is ill and not doing well. Hoping things even out for both of you.
Would love the chance to a win this great pattern. Hope Mom is getting stronger every day.
ReplyDeleteI would love to join in your quilt along, but do not have this book. I might find another pattern I want to make that is in my sewing room, maybe my Sally Post blocks. I could keep up at the same pace and make headway on that one! Don't include me in the giveaway, I'm busting at the seams with "bucket list" projects! Hope your mom is doing better.
ReplyDeleteHope your mom has a speedy recovery!! I would love to win this pattern!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll pass on the pattern. It is very cute, but I have too many in the queue already!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your Mom's fall. It is hard to see our parents' health decline. I know you have been dealing with her health challenges for some time. You will both be in my prayers.
First time I leave a message but I'm one of your reader . I'll watch your progress I love your new sal . Sorry for your Mom
ReplyDeleteThank you KattyLou!
DeleteSo sad for your mom...your new sal is awesome! don't include me in the giveaway, I have too long list too...
ReplyDeleteI would love to have the Christmas quilt pattern...bigger pieces are a plus for me!
ReplyDeleteI love the OVNI book, your post has prompted me to get the applique blocks out. I only have 7 left to do, so will work along with you if that is OK? Don't put my name in for the drawing tho, I don't care for the large pieces either.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I would love to see your blocks! (and have an email address, since you are a no-reply commenter)
DeleteI love the Christmas pattern. Bigger pieces do not scare me!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your mom, Lori. Hopefully she is recovering a bit. I will love seeing your progress on the beautiful new sampler! I love the various blocks on this one!
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern. I think I would do it in fabric rather than wool. It would take a lot of big(expensive) wool pieces. I'd also like to say I love your Instagram pics. As a fellow quilter/runner I enjoy the run related pics. Cemetery street is a dead end.........prophetic!
ReplyDeleteI love Norma's designs and have made several of them. thanks for the chance to win such a cute pattern!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Yes it is a perfect pattern to add some wool to. I love mixing cottons and wool and this looks like it is ideally suited for that. And now is the time to start the winter quilts! THANK YOU for the chance to win the pattern. I don't follow Instagram or Facebook, but I love reading my blogs. I hope your Mom can be up and better soon. Oh. and just want to say I love the back cover quilt in that book. Those blocks would be pretty in wool too!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your mom, hope she's mending well! I am making Winter Wonderland but reduced it to 75%, love the size for the very reason you passed on it
ReplyDeleteI will enjoy watching your progress on your new pattern, looks lovely!
Have several of Norma's patterns but not this one. Hope your Mom makes a full recovery with no side effects.
ReplyDeleteCute pattern and thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteSending warm wishes for your mom, bless her heart and yours. I've been seeing glimpses of the little quilt swap...how I kick myself for not MAKING the time. Next time? I just need a years notice...lol! ok...so...I'd love to win your pattern but this is because I want it for my favorite applique blog bud. I might persuade her a barter down the road.
ReplyDeleteI would like to win the pattern from Timeless Treasures. Very pretty. I hope your mom is feeling better. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this. Wool is my choice as well.
