Stars and Samplers.....Again

Here are my Stars in a Time Warp blocks- "neat stripes" this week. I'm not sure how neat my stripes are though! LOL  The pink and red on the right was cut wrong, so I went with it.

I'm attempting to get some some of the Ohio sampler blocks sewn together.

I had to make these  basket blocks.
The deer was substituted and it was supposed to be 12 tall and 10 wide, instead I did it the other way around.
So, I trimmed it and gave him some grass.

So, I was downstairs getting organized for the graduation party and I hear a strange noise. I followed it upstairs and it was my sewing machine!! I had left it on and it decided to sew FAST speed without me! I have it ready to take in and am getting reacquainted with my first machine- a Viking. Do they even make Viking sewing machines anymore?

Happy Monday!!

  1. My machine Singer has started doing the same thing. If you find a cause/solution I'd love to know the answer.

  2. Hmmm, I have often thought it would be nice to have the elves whip up something while I am sleeping, but not with "My" machine, they would need to bring their own! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Sounds scary. I absolutely love your deer block! I love how quilters can be so creative when a "mistake" is made. I think it often makes the quilt more interesting.

  5. Love how you are assembling the blocks and choosing the fabrics!
    I always need a model... :/
(I see that they still make Husqvarna Viking machines.)
    Best wishes!

  8. I love seeing your Stars in a Time Warp. Gotta make my Neat Stripes block still. Way to adapt for the turned block with the deer. Looking like some good progress on your Sampler.

  9. Maybe you have an elf up there running your sewing machine, who doesn't realize there's no fabric in it. Or, any other explanation is kind of spooky. Your blocks are great! We are heading home - yea!

  10. Great blocks and you are thinking like a 19th century quilter with your "go with it" style - which will make the final quilts more interesting!

  11. Very odd about your sewing machine. A bit nervewracking though! Love seeing your blocks coming together so well!

  12. Hope your machine gets all fixed up. Pretty scary that it starts on its own! Your cute deer needed to have some grass - great way to adapt and fix him up with some! No one will ever know... Sampler is really coming together nicely.

  13. I am really loving your sampler blocks! I wish now I had joined in.Do you have a favorite fabric for your applique backgrounds? I have a vacuum that does that. It gets hot and quits and if you leave it plugged in it will start again on its own.

  14. I have wanted a sewing machine that will sew by itself and make just what I want. Guess that was not the case with your machine.

  15. ''The Mystery of the Haunted Sewing Machine.'' I believe Viking machines are stil made, but maybe not made in ? Sweden? One was given as a prize every year in my school for the best, neatest, finest stitcher. [lol]. Needless to say I never won. [I swear this girl Nan won every year! Like she needed all those sewing machines? Yeesh. But it s ok, I loved the Singer my parents scrimped to buy for me. Rather sadly my dad traded in his Featherweight as part of the purchase price / deal]

  16. I love your deer! A great solution, isn't that the kind of thing we see in the antique quilts? That is such a strange thing about your sewing machine.... a sewing machine ghost maybe...?

  19. Lori, did you try a different foot pedal? My Janome was doing the same thing and I switched pedals from another machine, problem solved. I love your blog and all the inspiration!

    1. Unfortunately I don't have another one! Someone did mention it was probably a short in the foot pedal.
