Now that Thanksgiving is over I can bring out my hand quilting. This quilt is so big it takes up a lot of space!
See the star motif in the center of the wreath? I am quilting it as close as possible to the original antique quilt.
This is called Beyond the Cherry Tree and was given out free by Gay at Sentimental Stitches. You can still get the pattern but now you have to pay for it. Gay does an outstanding job of reproducing the original in many quilts! Look HERE.
Here's my instagram feed from the past week if you missed it!
Have a wonderful day!
Yours Biggs quilt is beautiful and it looks like you had a great week! Happy Monday
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing you quilt on this last winter :) Such a gorgeous quilt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and all those tiny hand stitches make it even more special--an heirloom in the making
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful family treasure this is. One stitch at a time...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting. I am so glad you are hand quilting this gem. All that beautiful work deserves it. I do hope it will be a chance for you to relax a bit in this busy holiday season. Enjoy the day.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is DDG!! Heirloom material!! STUNNING!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt. About a month ago I bought the pattern. It is going to be my 2016 BIG project. You have inspired me. I love your fabric choices. Hugs
ReplyDeleteLooking gorgeous. I have the top all done. Next year I will quilt it somehow.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays to you and your family.
Beautiful quilting on a stunning quilt !!
ReplyDeleteWow !!! :)
Total gorgeousness... I am drooling on my computer keyboard!
ReplyDeleteI like your attitude about enjoying what you have accomplished rather than dwelling on how much is left to do. That can be applied to so many things.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a gem of a quilt.
Gorgeous hand quilting project. It's a beautiful quilt to spend time with. I did miss some of your instagrams this week. I will have to get caught up!
ReplyDeleteGosh that is a beautiful quilt--and your quilting is lovely! I like your little instagram shots--especially the (what looks like ) A Partridge in a Pear Tree piece--I am planning on moving on from just my "365 circles" from Quilty Folk to a few more applique shapes (gasp!!) I love the hand working...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteDear Lori,
ReplyDeleteit is so beautiful, wonderful quilt.
Greetings,
Sylvia
I love this gorgeous applique quilt. I love the fun quilting motifs here and there in it too :0) Everytime you sit and stitch on it you get closer to a finish!
ReplyDeleteLori, I just LOVE that Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt. It's gorgeous!!! And if you decide you don't have a space for it, I'd consider taking it off your hands, even temporarily!! ;-)) If only I was as good at applique as you, I'd buy the pattern, even!!
ReplyDeleteIt is just beautiful. I bet it is even more stunning in person.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to take time Inbetween the holidays to relax in the evenings with some hand quilting. Yours is looking gorgeous. It will be a stunning heirloom.
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour handquilting this one will be well worth the effort. I just love looking at Beyond the Cherry Tree Quilts and am glad to see that some are still posting their progress on theirs. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt Lori - it's beautiful! Have fun quilting it this winter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hand quilting! it should keep you nice and warm as you go :)
ReplyDeleteStunning! I find when I get the chance to hand quilt it is so so relaxing. All I have been doing is bindings by hand but that means things are getting done. Your quilting is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteProbably a good idea not to think about how much to do. Eventually, these things get finished and then when you look back, you are amazed! At least I am. That quilt is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteA lovely quilt. I need to make a start on Block 1. Inspiring to see yours and makes me want to get a wriggle on! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery, very beautiful. An heirloom in the making!
ReplyDeleteLori, it's so beautiful and it's going to look amazing when it's finished. Nothing compares to a quilt that's been lovingly hand quilted, and after it's been washed you get that lovely soft crinkly look just like a vintage quilt.. love it!!
ReplyDeleteStunning Lori, just breathtaking! And I really love your idea of appreciating how far you've come rather than how far you still have to go with the quilting. I'm hand quilting a large quilt too and this makes so much sense to me!
