Winter Hand Quilting

Now that Thanksgiving is over I can bring out my hand quilting. This quilt is so big it takes up a lot of space!

I like to enjoy how much I have done and not think about how much more there is to do.
See the star motif in the center of the wreath? I am quilting it as close as possible to the original antique quilt.
This is called Beyond the Cherry Tree and was given out free by Gay at Sentimental Stitches. You can still get the pattern but now you have to pay for it. Gay does an outstanding job of reproducing the original in many quilts! Look HERE.

Here's my instagram feed from the past week if you missed it!
Have a wonderful day!

  11. I like your attitude about enjoying what you have accomplished rather than dwelling on how much is left to do. That can be applied to so many things.
That is such a gem of a quilt.

  13. Gosh that is a beautiful quilt--and your quilting is lovely! I like your little instagram shots--especially the (what looks like ) A Partridge in a Pear Tree piece--I am planning on moving on from just my "365 circles" from Quilty Folk to a few more applique shapes (gasp!!) I love the hand working...hugs, Julierose

  16. Lori, I just LOVE that Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt. It's gorgeous!!! And if you decide you don't have a space for it, I'd consider taking it off your hands, even temporarily!! ;-)) If only I was as good at applique as you, I'd buy the pattern, even!!

  22. Stunning! I find when I get the chance to hand quilt it is so so relaxing. All I have been doing is bindings by hand but that means things are getting done. Your quilting is absolutely beautiful.

  23. Probably a good idea not to think about how much to do. Eventually, these things get finished and then when you look back, you are amazed! At least I am. That quilt is gorgeous!

  26. Lori, it's so beautiful and it's going to look amazing when it's finished. Nothing compares to a quilt that's been lovingly hand quilted, and after it's been washed you get that lovely soft crinkly look just like a vintage quilt.. love it!!

  27. Stunning Lori, just breathtaking! And I really love your idea of appreciating how far you've come rather than how far you still have to go with the quilting. I'm hand quilting a large quilt too and this makes so much sense to me!
