Friends and Quilting

One huge benefit of quilting and blogging is the friends you meet. This weekend was no exception. After a difficult few weeks it really was what my heart needed.
" Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.  For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up. "

One of my favorite photos of the weekend. The newspaper had a booth and he did a great job capturing the moment in his Newspaper "frame".Michelle, Me, Juliann.
Juliann and I picked up my friend Christy on Friday for class and we forgot to get a photo of the 3 of us.
I felt like I've known Sujata although this was our first (hopefully not last) face to face meeting. It was a fun and casual class and she was a great teacher!!

This quilt belonged to a student who had taken a class with Sujata in WA state and  brought it to share.
A few students opted on a different look than the majority went with. I liked this one a lot.
Someone did this in awesome indigoes. (why didn't I think of that?!?!)
I met Merry from Mt Vernon. She has participated in my little quilt swap.
I met Jo from Moonbear Design and Quilting. She quilted my Flags of the American Revolution quilt for me and did an outstanding job.
Here's the blocks I made in Sujata's Windmill class.

A little buzz on sudafed and coffee goes a long way! I do want to add one more row so it is square.
The next day at the quilt show I met Sandi from Shhdesigns blog. She is from Canada and has come several years in a row. Thanks for the cool gift, Sandi! I got it from Anna.
Juliann, from Lining up my Stitches blog,  and I have quite a bit in common, but she is much quieter, gentler and reflective than I am. Both our moms had Alzheimer's, we are quilters, bloggers and runners. Thanks for being such a good listener and putting up with my many tears on Thursday.
We were browsing around at non quilt vendors (I think we were at the Bend Distillery booth!) I heard my name and low and behold I see Kathy from Material Obsession! I do believe this is the third year (maybe 4) that I've seen her at Sisters. If she is coming next year I'm taking a class from her!! She is so sweet and creative! Her quilts are off the chart!!
And we met up for lunch in the park with the ladies who have been sewing away at Randy's new house in Caldera Springs. I was happy to see them there. Missed you all!!

I have all week to show you quilts, but this is what got me through the weekend. Thank you all for your sweet comments on all my blog posts! I read every one, but have not had time to respond.

Make it a wonderful week.

  2. The indigo blocks and the way they are placed is a good look. It is so hard to know just what fabrics to select and take to a class. Seems like the grass is always greener on the other side.

  4. I am not even sure how many years of being the blogging friends but it was so nice to finally meet you in person. You brought great energy to the class. You were the only one through entire week who finished the quilt top! Love that picture of you with Christy and Juliann.
Glad you got away for a bit and submerged your soul into colors and textures with your friends. xo

  10. You made the most of your Week at Sisters. I haven't ever taken a Sister's class. Just made the day trip a few times. Long Ride Home in the Heat some years! Glad the rain held off so everyone could stay the whole day to see the Quilts.

Scott Hansen's Painted Forest was so much fun, lots to do for a finish. I did finish Quilt Dad's Pacific Crest to a flimsy before we left :0) ... and the show, WOW!!! We didn't get back to CA until yesterday. What a great time we had :0) The best experience as a first timer. Such a pleasure to meet and give you a hug!
