Gwennie Inspired Medallion Round 4

Last month Katy chose stars for her border theme. I've seen some wonderful interpretations and am so excited to see yours!

I tried to use more turquoise in my stars to make the center more cohesive with the borders. The inside photos make my gray look pink.

Making it fit! Chop Chop!

Here is Pierrette's lovely medallion. I love the way her stars add movement to the quilt.

Sally M kept her stars pretty balanced on her quilt. I do like the way they are faced toward the center of the quilt.
Here is Ursala's medallion. I like how she has placed her stars. She is aiming for a bed size quilt. Love that green woven looking fabric.
Here is Vicki B's sweet medallion. She says it is more green than she had planned. The green and pink are very nice together.
Here is Kristine's lovely medallion. I love the 2 sides of stars.
Wendy has chosen the final theme for the LAST round!
drum roll.......
She writes:

Being from Maine, my theme choice for the final border is
“Something Fishy”
As with those who have gone before me (Lori, Cynthia, Cathy and Katy), you can interpret this as loosely as you like. Here are a few examples:
Clamshells
Scallops
Fish fabric or appliques
Sea birds (they eat fish!)
Marine mammals (they eat fish too!)
Lighthouses (they see fish)
Boats (they catch fish)
Ovals and triangles (i.e. fish shaped)

Tartar Sauce – what???

I'm so excited to see what everyone comes up with.

Link up your quilt here.

  4. p.s. I forgot to mention that I applaud you for chopping that star in half to make it fit -- and that you used zig zags on the side borders . . .

  29. This has been such a fun SAL. I love to see and read the inspiration behind the choices each month. I like the repeated use of the cheddar and turquoise in your quilt. It evens things out. Even though I haven't actually sewn along (just in virtual reality) I've enjoyed each round.

  31. The way you incorporated the colors from previous rounds into your star border is spectacular, Lori. Your quilt speaks "Gwen" to me! Thank you for sharing the others' quilts, too. All of them, yours included: what a bunch of beauty, sparkle, and fun.

  32. I love your quilt top! I really like that you did your borders on the sides last month and now on the top and bottom this month! Great job using the turquoise - it really does echo the center. It will be fun to see what you come up for this next prompt!

Thanks for showing some of the other quilts as well. It's so fun to see how differently everyone's quilts are coming out. So creative! And how interesting that so many are doing asymmetrical borders!

  34. Lori, I love the way your GIM quilt looks... it is fun and funky and soothing at the same time. Does that make any sense? Love your star border and I have looked at it several times and just noticed you changed the background and star fabrics in each border. Those subtle changes are what makes quilts interesting. Thanks for the link up!!!
