Aurora Quilt Show Part 2- New Quilts

Here's a few of my favorite new quilts at Aurora.

This one was really well done and what's not to love about these great colors? That pattern is stunning!
I thought this was a vintage quilt. Nope! Blue and brown are so soft and lovely together. It instantly ages a quilt.

I'm taking a class in Houston on embroidery! I was impressed with this fantastic patriotic quilt. (notice the quilting)

The embroidery steals the show all the way on this one.
This is so delicate and beautiful.

I think these were 4" blocks. It was a lot of work.

Isn't this the block that Barb (Fun With Barb) just swapped? What a happy quilt!

This entire quilt was done with reverse applique.
It was very well done.
Here's a fun little herb garden in the courtyard.
It has been quite a week! Elsa made it through her necessary girl surgery and it back on normal activity. Our son got his car stolen in Portland in broad daylight at a busy store. It was full of mostly everything he and his girlfriend own. (they have been backpacking, so they don't own a lot, but cameras, computers, backpacks- all important stuff)
I'm off to Houston on Sunday. I'll be posting a few things next week, but will be harder to respond to questions. I'm volunteering to work at the International Quilt Festival- does that make sense? (volunteering to work?) I'll get an opportunity to see another side of the show. How does all that get done, anyway? I'll know more on the flip side! If you see me, say hi. I probably won't be able to chat, but would love to give you a hug and put a face with a name.

Ya'll have a wonderful weekend!

  6. What a marvelous variety of quilts! And amazing handwork on some of these. Thanks for sharing. And what a great opportunity to work behind the scenes. Behind the scenes always sounds so mysterious and interesting to me. :) Have a wonderful time.

  7. The quilting is excellent on the Colonial redwork quilt. You need an embroidery machine to do those designs. Wish they were available for hand stitching.....or something similar.

  15. The whiter faced dog in your pictures startled me. It looks just like our sag which is a German shepherd/beagle mix, about 40+#. Have fun in TX.

  16. Really enjoyed the quilts from the Aurora Colony. I pinned several, trying to zoom in on the cards to give credit. That is just a tragedy about your son's car. When you only have a few things, it's especially hard to lose them. Have a blast in Houston--can't wait to hear about your experience.

  19. What great quilts! Love that brown and blue one. So sorry to hear of your son's and his girlfriend's loss. It's awful that it happened, worse that it happened in daylight. I hope you enjoy volunteering. They will appreciate you and your help.
