Here's a fun quilt in my collection. The heavy quilting is keeping the layers together.
I adore this setting! It is the same setting Sally Post used in THIS quilt.
Most of the quilting is done with hanging diamonds. But the setting triangles near the border change hanging diamond direction.
The quilting is not tiny and precise, but she did take time to think about the actual quilting of this piece. The quilt is completed by hand.
I wonder what her thought was with putting the small pieces of red behind the flower buds?
The border has baptist fan quilting.
The only print is this chrome yellow with red.
The backing is turned to the front for the tiniest binding.
I hope you have enjoyed this quilt today.
If you are traveling for the holidays, be safe.
Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas!
I love how the side flowers droop down and meet the basket--so charming; thanks for sharing...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThe chrome yellow caught my eye right off the bat. It just pops. Really a piece of art. The piecing is very precise and so is the quilting. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have enjoyed seeing this one. Thanks for all the close-up pictures. Do you know when it was made? Have a great holiday. ;^)

Very charming, what a delightful quilt. Not sure why the quilter put the red pieces [parrot tulips?] but it was inspired and really makes the quilt special, as does the interesting quilting. Thanks for the detailed post. You didn't say when you thought it dated from or where, and when you acquired it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful "Lori" a fabulous piece of art..what a treasure!!

ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a brilliant Christmas day Lori and a successful and healthy 2020 from New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt show of seeing this oldie but goodie! Yes, heavy quilting makes holding the fabrics together. Love her individuality of choices. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love these old quilts and wondering what they were thinking! She probably added the red to help make her flowers pop! The hand quilting especially makes me melt. So much time and attention to detail there.:)
