Took the Train to Nantes!

When I saw Cecile in Houston at the show I asked about the Pour l'Amour du fil show in Nantes. For some reason I thought Quiltmania and the show were one business. When she said the show will be going on I thought it was a good time to make plans!

Hey Cory, want to go to Normandy (He is a history buff) and a quilt show?! And he is still working for the airport so we get perks.

After Normandy we took the train to Nantes.

These two ladies were on the tram and I asked if they were going to the show. YES! So we followed them- unfortunately they had never been, so we followed them around a bit before we got going the right direction. We all had a good laugh about it!

I couldn't believe I was finally here!

Laure had extra tickets that she sent to me to get in. I brought my swap quilt to give to her and she was only here on Wednesday, so I was disappointed. When I found that out I went to a post office where we were staying in Bayeux and mailed her package. I think she had it before we left France!

I've known Will online for at least 10 years but we had never met in person. Look at the quilt she is hand quilting!

Cecile and her blogger's corner!! It always had a lot of people busy stitching, chatting and having a lovely time.

I have to admit, I never knew who Karen Styles was, although I've heard her name. She and her husband were so sweet! I was glad to have seen her that day because she was gone the next day. I ordered a pattern! Can't wait to share it with you. PS She is from Australia.

I am facebook friends with many French quilters, including Vero Lamasure. I have to admit, I have it in my head the way to pronounce a name, but when they spoke it, it sounded nothing like I thought! haha My French is bad!

Cecile's pretty applique blocks- background is the bloggers corner.

This is Caroline Lecomte. She lived in the states for years and now lives in France. If you ever have the opportunity to get to the South of France, look her up! HERE and HERE

She makes these with vintage textiles. She also makes kits, but I opted to purchase one pre made. It is as charming as can be!

Here is Christelle Ebor doing the tiniest stitching ever!

The patch on the right was made by an Afghanistan woman.  It is a lovely program for women to support themselves. I bought 2 patches and will share them later.

Quilts from the show next week!

  2. Oh, how wonderful! So glad you got to go, and to meet up with people you had only known online, or by name. Such a treat.
Funny that you were following people to the show that didn't know more than you did. ;)
Did you and history-loving hubby love Normandy?

  4. Looks so fun and so nice to see quilter friends in person.
Don't feel self conscious about your French pronunciation! I studied French for years, my mom and gma / gpa spoke it [of Swiss and Alsace ancestry]---one of my college degrees is in French literature. I used to read and write it fluently--but no French person ever understood a word I said. LOL.
