I do not stay ion an adjoining hotel to the convention center so I get to see a view of the city that many may not. I also get lots of steps in!
I did make a point of going to GRS Creations and Fabric in Spring. They run a great sale during the show.
Sometime this winter I'll start my eagle quilt for the 250th year of USA. I'm thinking these may fit in well. The fabric is called harbor Springs by Minick and Simpson.
Outside Xochi in the Marriot downtown.
Not an unusual site at the convention center! I talked to them and they were laying out a quilt of valor quilt.
Most of the time in late October they are preparing this for an ice skating rink! Fun bumper boats on a 90 degree day! That was so unusual to see!
I took a lecture from Carmen Geddes of Ten Sisters on binding. If you saw my recent binding photo on facebook you should get a double laugh out of this. It was interesting and I got a few tips. She is really into piping, not me so much. Their website has many tutorials! I liked her a lot.
You know I'm working on Jan Patek's Bible quilt and found these quilts so charming!
The cherrywood challenge is always fun and my friend Sue makes and enters amazing challenge quilts!
The theme was Into the Abyss.
We found it!
My son and husband repeat a lot of movie lines from Jaws so I sent them this quilt photo!
My friend Annette from Central Oregon and her friend Charlotte from CA.
Never doubt there are quilt police!
Most people headed straight to the vendors. I went straight to the quilts and it was pretty empty. Even the vendors weren't super swamped on Wednesday. Here was one of the busier aisles.
In the back of the vendors they have Open Studio with 4 different "tutorials" going on using different mediums. I was thrilled to sit and see the one by Dena Rosenberg on Broderie Perse.
She mentioned a quilt on display using Broderie Perse. It was a special exhibit by French quilters. (I'll share more of those later)
After seeing the tutorial I wanted to see this one again.
Entirely by hand!
More to come later this week!
Wonderful Thank you for sharing I really want to go again
