Textiles Of Guatemala

The textiles of Guatemala are so vivid and beautiful!

 

I thought this beadwork was so interesting and beautiful! 

I live near a Native American reservation and beadwork is very expensive. These were reasonably priced. I can't say that I saw anyone wearing them so maybe they are for special occasions or ceremonies. 

2 years ago this man and his mother had the popup shop in our hotel. I was happy to see him again, but he said his mother has been ill. They were both so kind!

These aprons are so beautiful! I think they are called Ikat aprons. They wear them to protect their clothing and it's part of their culture. These little girls at the public school we visited were so adorable with their traditional clothing. 

Even at the dump these women moved their trash bag so I could see their lovely aprons!

This was at our hotel. At first it looks like a photo.

But upon closer inspection it was embroidery!

Here is a purse I purchased 2 years ago at the pop-up from the mom and son. I get comments on it ALL the time. So I purchased a few bags to sell and proceeds will benefit Faith Seeds! Mine is a bit larger than all that I am showing below. 

All of the below are $40 plus shipping. 

I love them all and do not have a favorite!

This is is a little more purple and blue and is somewhat flat. 

This is is a little more pink. 

This is the same shape as mine and has red ends.
