When going to a quilt show in Lancaster County PA expect to see a lot of lovely farms!
And fun quilt shops in lovely off the beaten places! This was Zincks,
The quilt shops had plenty of red, white and blue patriotic decor and fabric- ready for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
This year I got to see my host from the Lebanon guild- Maenad. 3 years ago she picked me up from the airport and drove me all over the countryside quilt shops!
Kerry recognized me and said hi! I love that!! I made a trip through Ohio in 2019 visiting several quilt guilds and did trunk shows. She was at a guild in Hermitage, PA. (I believe its on the OH-PA border) I'd love to do that again Ohio/PA!
Saw a sign that said something like "Quilt Barn" ahead- screech, went the brakes!
The Amish man was super friendly and let me take photos of the shop. Above is their quilt stash they use to make the quilts they will sell,
Here are all the tops waiting to be quilted. They employ about 100 quilters throughout the area to quilt for them.
This was out front of the business. The sign we saw was tiny attached to a post.
My hosts, Bruce and Cheryl, (Not shown above!) this year have pigs that they got recently for the grandson boys to raise for 4H.
Another quilt shop in the countryside.
The coffee experience has improved by leaps and bounds in Lancaster Co. Saw this at a coffee shop. No, I didn't bring any home.
Beautiful buildings.
WE stopped at another Amish owned business following a roadside stand. She had a fun antique and primitive shop. When I was going back to the car I saw their buggy in the garage.
This was a vintage beauty in the shop. The color in the photo above is more accurate.
It was fairly heavy and had a unusual backing. I think it was a blanket.
Such an amazing time!! The quilt show was incredible!
I was flying standby from Philadelphia- San Francisco- Oregon. ICE was assisting in PHL- no wait, which was really nice and I was the LAST person on the plane (I rec'd the LAST seat) from SFO to home! Life is good!
Time to unpack! Will be sharing quilts from the show later this week.
