My Favorite Quilt from the Sisters Show

This quilt was made by Sarah Fielke and is called A Wing and a Prayer. It was hanging on the outside "wall" of the teachers tent so the quilts looked see-through.  But you get an idea of what a fantastic quilt this is.

I found this online and has the information about it.

I thought the tongues on the border were so unique!

I told my friend I was going to meet her outside the tent and who should I see when heading out? The maker of my favorite quilt at the show, Sarah, Sue Spargo and Alex Anderson. I did tell Sarah that her quilt was my fav. What designer doesn't like to hear that?

Rude Rejection Email

In 2013 I was asked to design a quilt for Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine.  I was thrilled! (That reminds me that I need to get busy and finish my instructions.) I made another reproduction quilt last fall that I thought some magazine would like to publish. I went to my go-to magazine and they,  very politely in a nice email said no. My friend Jill Reid and Susan McDermott have designed and published many quilts so they gave me the name of a few others to email.

BTW, the quilt I made last fall  is complete and sent off to Quilt It Today magazine.

Today, 3 1/2 months AFTER submitting it online to a different  magazine they sent a rude, short, impersonal rejection email. I'm sure they get a lot of submissions, but gee, how about a little class on the form letter?
Compared to my other personal responses, I was really surprised at the editor's abruptness.

How hard would it be to write "We really love your quilt but it isn't what we are looking for right now.  Thank you for your submission. "

2 Little Quilts

These little baskets were from a challenge that Kathie H. started. She made the blocks and dispersed them and threw out a challenge. I finally completed mine.

I'm calling it Indian Summer. Everything about it reminds me of the that time in late summer/early fall when we've had a frost and the nights are chilly, but our daytime temps stay fairly high, like summer lingering until the last possible moment. I'm always a little sad when fall officially arrives in late September.
 I have been asked again this year to put a quilt in the fiber works show at Campbell Pottery in Cambridge Springs, PA and this will be my entry. 

Here's an adorable quilt that I've been enjoying. My friend Jill gave it to me for my 50th birthday. Isn't it fantastic?! I love the quilting. It is so even and precise!

She knows I'm a sucker for anything patriotic and the back is as pretty as the front. Thank you Jill!!

PS I found a small quilt to do for a fall quiltalong!! Anybody up for that?

Do You EQ?

I know enough about Electric Quilt to do a few basics. I can play with layouts and figure out how many blocks I want and what size the quilt will be. That's about it.
Here's a few layouts in EQ and the quilt that resulted.
I have the hardest time with medallions.

So tell me, do you use EQ? Are you a whiz? Or still a beginner like me? Any great tips you'd like to reveal?
