PJ Sale at the Stichin' Post

This morning was the ever popular pajama sale at the Stichin' Post in Sisters.  The earlier you arrive the bigger the discount. If you are wearing pajamas you get an extra 5% discount. I really didn't need a thing, and it is getting harder and harder to find what I like at this store, but it is almost tradition. I didn't want to break with that!

This is what my phone said as I started my car to leave Madras.
And this is what I saw as I passed the store when I got to Sisters an hour later. A line of ladies in their PJ's waiting for the doors to open.

I had a good reason to pass right on by. Anna of Woolie Mammoth Blog  invited me, along with some others, for some coffee and nourishment before hitting the sale. How could I pass that up?! Thanks Anna!!
The usual PJ sale mayhem ensued. It's always fun!!

You'll never know what you'll find in Sisters, Oregon!!

Under the Big Top- DONE!!

I feel so wonderful upon completion of a very long term project and this is one of them!!
"Under the Big Top" is quilted and bound! If you are wondering about the quilt name, click HERE.
In 2010 6 quilters all started a 9 month hst swap. So, I'm saying that is when this quilt officially started. That's about 4 years in the making. And as I have said more than once, good things cannot be rushed.
Recently Mary of Quilt Hollow gave a shout out of a quilting deal she was offering and I jumped at the chance. I felt this quilt would be suited to an all-over pattern since the quilt pattern is the focus.
Thank you Mary! I am thrilled with it!

Here is the original quilt. I do believe it was hanging at Houston Quilt Show in Nov 2009. This photo makes is look orange but it is red.
Here is a close up of a block.
The first thing I did was make up the block on Electric Quilt. (to the best of my limited ability) If you are new here, my latest doll quiltalong, Faithful,  was this block. Several of the makers want to make all nine blocks. Can't wait to see them!!
Then I dropped that block into a whole quilt. I love this process of making a quilt from an antique. It is much more satisfying to me than purchasing a pattern and making exactly as the designer. (I do that too!)

Oh yeah, and a little insurance policy when throwing it in the wash. Color Catchers!

Thanks for coming along on this quilting journey with me!!

Wool Applique & Faithful Quilts

Here's a couple things I've been working on the past few days.
I've got this all prepped for sewing. It is a pattern designed by Lynda and was in Primitive Quilts & projects.
This is on my coffee table now and think the snowmen will make a good winter replacement.
I got my November block made for the Flowers quilt. Can you tell I chose an easy one?
When I get through a few other projects I'll start making the half square triangles that go with the blocks.

I'm hand sewing down binding!! It's a project I started in 2010! Whoop! Whoop!! Cant wait to share the finished quilt with you.

If you haven't seen all 19 little Faithful quilts you are missing out. Each and every one is unique and so cute! Please go take a look. Thank you all for your encouraging words and for sewing along! I love doing these little quiltalongs because of YOU all!!

I've got a priority envelope of fabric and scraps ready to be mailed to.......

drum roll.....................

Congratulations Judy. Please send me your mailing address and I'll get the package to the post.

Quiltworks- First Friday

Happy November! Wow, the months sure go by fast! Quiltworks had their First Friday  and the theme was "Inspirations Small Quilt Show". It was very diverse this month and a fun change.
I'm starting with my favorites. This one, which was made from wool. I think the blocks are 6". I adored the rick rack border.
My pieced favorite by my friend Sally Rogers. I was completely sucked into this one from across the room.
I liked the story behind this one.
What a fun and interesting challenge.

I've been sewing and can't wait to show you what I'm working on!! Hope you enjoyed the show!
