Delectable Mountains- Classic and Vintage

 I added the large space for some great quilting and then added the simple hst border.

It is 68" square and will go in the "to be quilted" pile.

I've got a bright and happy end of summer quilt/UFO on my mind and will be working on that this week.

 I've been spending as much time as possible with my mom and sewing a little for evening therapy. (In between, hubby had an allergic reaction and ended up in ER, and I had the 24 hour bug! )

Dresses for Bolivia

Here are a few dresses for Bolivia I received this week. If you want to mail me yours you can find my mailing address HERE. I'd like to have them all around the first of October.

My mom was so happy and chipper on Sunday that I told my family it was the best I've seen her in at least a month. I guess that was the good before the bad, because her health is slipping quickly. I think it will be a quick and easy passing, but still hard no matter what. Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Snowballs in Summer

I was recently asked to make a quilt using a reproduction line from P & B Textiles. I LOVE that they are branching out to more reproductions.  

 This particular line is called Friendship Ring by Evonne Cook with pinks,pinkish reds,  chocolates, with a touch of cheddar.  I started with strips.

 And made nine patches alternating with a snowball block.

 I saw a vintage quilt and fashioned mine similar to it. I'm very happy with it! For the snowball blocks I did use a few of my own light colored prints.

 The cheddary one in the center is part of the friendship line.

The nine patch blocks are made with 2 1/2" strips and finish at 6". For the snowball blocks I used 2 7/8" squares and added them to the corner of a 6 1/2" square, finishing at 6".
Instead of assembling my quilt in long rows I make it in 4 sections, which makes it easier to put together (imho, anyway!)
