Tickled Pink

I have a top finished! Our retreat girls had a yearly challenge and since we were going to be all together at Sisters I did my "reveal" at that time.

Here's a little better photo

I was able to use Michelle Yeo's Bucklebury for the border.

The center toile was a fun surprise!

Okay, this quilt was the challenge! Exactly like it, or inspired, or.......

Here is my center! I love it! But it was a tad too big! Aargh! I went ahead and started getting the other blocks together until I realized I was going to have to pivot.
BTW, The 4.5" blocks were in my orphan drawer (Made by Linda!) So, I thought I would use them up instead of making more blocks.

I tried a few different centers and came across this cute toile while in Missouri a few short weeks ago.

I appliqued the center toile and then cut it square!

The border fabric is the fabric I have behind the toile. I wasn't feeling the love as a border though.

The quilt was assembled in a little different way. I had to keep a close eye on the directions.

It looks a whole lot different than Jo Morton's Peppermint Twist pattern but I'm happy with my version!

I wasn't even going to use pink- but now that I have,  I'm calling mine Tickled Pink! I believe it measures about 44" square.

Have a great week!

Fun on A Friday!

I was rummaging around for some backing fabric for my swap quilt  and thought I'd share these beauties with you.

I have noticed this past year I have a real love for stripes!!

A lovely madder.

Yellow/caramel/peach

I picked this up at reproductionfabrics last year. It is so elegant.

I wasn't quite ready to share my swap quilt yet and that is the only sewing I've done this week,
The top madder will be the backing for my swap quilt. It seemed to suit the front the best. Time to start hand quilting.

I hope you enjoyed these lovely fabrics!!

Have ana amazing weekend. Our weather forecast is calling for sunny skies and warmer temps. Yay!

Reproduction Fabrics Quilt Shop

One last stop on our Midwest road trip. We didn't plan it perfectly because we ended on Labor day weekend. We had to make hard choices, go to Wisconsin and hit JJ stitches and Country Sampler or Minnesota to Reproductionfabrics.com.  Margo's shop in Northfield, Minnesota was the winner hands down. I was so thrilled to be visiting! I have used her site to learn so much about historic fabrics. I recently saw her Youtube video Cottonopia

This was made with 3" stars. Don't you just love it?!

Margo gave us the pattern as soon as she saw us admiring it.

The photos are in order of how I took them. Small but mighty shop if you love reproductions!

Margo was so generous with her knowledge!
She shared with us about the indigo prints using these amazing blocks. (more details at the end of this post)

Cute little quilts here and there.

Mickey and Margo. Both were the sweetest and so kind!

And we did laugh quite a bit when we were there!

She gave me quite a few hand outs and I called her to make sure I could post them here.
Scroll to the end to see a little of my purchases!

She asked me to make sure 18th century French illustrator, Diderot,  got credit for this drawing. :)

I picked up a couple packages of scraps! (big surprise, right?) See the two strips of floral on the left? They were in the trash! I did ask permission to take them! hahaha

It was really so much fun. We spent a little over 2 hours in the shop and we never felt any pressure to purchase or leave! They were both just very wonderful people!

If you are ever in the area I recommend a stop. (call first)

I hope you'll check out her website (linked at the top) and her YouTube.  (linked at the top)

And if you need one more reason to go to Northfield, MN.

I'm putting my Etsy store on vacation mode starting Friday. If you've had your eye on anything this week would be a good time to purchase! I've got a lot of new used  quilt books and new fabric, mostly reproduction.  I appreciate you all so much! Thank you!

Fun on a Friday!

Here is another cutie Patootie little quilt! This time made by Laura in WA. (I kept her instagram handle in the photo if you want to follow!)

She opted for 7" blocks.

Then I turned this:

Into this!

We have had some beautiful summer nights.
I'm sorry for all those dealing with wildfire smoke. I hope it clears up soon. On the west coast we get it a lot and understand how miserable and ugly it can be. Take comfort in the fact it always clears up!

Thank you all so much for the Etsy orders! I appreciate it so much! (link on my sidebar)

Enjoy your weekend quilt friends!

My Little Swap Quilt

My little swap quilt has arrived and been seen by Trish. My quilt went all the way to Buenos Aires, Argentina!

It is simple and a little on the primitive side!

Love that print for the backing.

This was the vintage quilt I was inspired by!

The last quilt to arrive went from Australia to Utah, back to Australia and then back to Utah! No fault of the sender! Post office error!! Aargh!

Jan Horn, as soon as you can get a photo of the quilt Susan sent you I'll post it and we can see ALL the quilts in one place!

Below are some new additions to my Etsy store.
All of these are from the line The Union Forever by Judie Rothermel and the New England Quilt Museum. Such awesome fabric!

This line is called Democracy by Sandy Gervais! An oldie for sure!

The link to my Etsy store is on the right column of my blog.

I had a lovely breakfast with my daughter yesterday. We are down to 2 weeks until we leave for Peru!

I hope you have an awesome day!
