We are moving right along! Here we are on month 7 of Cheri's Sweet Land of Liberty quilt.
These are Denise's lovely blocks using wool on cotton.
Here are my blocks.
Cut the background for the victory basket 15 1/2 x 17". Add a 1 1/2" strip to the bottom. For the liberty fish cut a background piece 13 3/4"x 7 3/4", add a 1" horizontal strip below it, and below that cut strips 1 1/4" x2 3/4", piece and add them to the bottom. Add a 1 1/2" strip to the right side, then applique.
We are making 5 of these pesky stars this month. The finished size is 5"x7".
If you do not have a pattern draw one on freezer paper, then cut apart and piece as shown. (Or do it the way that works for you)
I pieced mine in 3 sections, then sewed together the three sections. I also mark on my template the outer edge so I leave plenty of room for trimming. Not all of these star points are pointy! Look at the pattern peeking through above.
Then trim to 5 1/2" x 7 1/2".
One of mine I trimmed to short and had to add a piece back! This quilt is so busy it won't be noticeable to anyone but me.
Have fun and happy sewing!
The blocks look wonderful! I love your pesky stars!
ReplyDeleteI am working it...super fun blocks this time especially!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the measurements. I have misplaced the fish section and the next embroidery block patterns. I think something got stacked on top of them and then put away outside the sewing room.
ReplyDeleteLiberty fish......hmmmmm this is gonna be interesting. Loving the challenge of this sew along and the pleasure of "humble" quilting....it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful :0) thanks again Lori for making this so much easier than I thought it would be. Happy Sewing!
ReplyDeleteThose blocks are my favorite so far. Happy 4th of July.
ReplyDeletewhat a great patterns - I love all the fish! so fun
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! Love it!
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoyable to see the different versions. I think I always say that, but I do like the variations. :)
