Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative

I made a purchase this month to support the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. This lovely little quilt was made by Nyima Lhamo (aka Andrea Balosky).  It is called Ribbon Sutras. I sent her an email letting her know that I had purchased her quilt.
A bit of her response was this, "Your mention of the AAQI quilt in your blog was the real spark for my decision to do the same. So, all this seems to have come full circle."

Yes, I believe it has come full circle.

If you'd like to read a little more about this quilt and how it made its way to AAQI read about it here.

  7. What a lovely quilt - solid fabrics with hand quilting make me think of Amish quilts. It looks like I need to go read the story :0)

  8. I've been here and there, following links, reading and learning so much about the interesting, talented lady named Andrea Balosky and her unique life.
You are a fortunate lady to own this little treasure, and the AAQI is fortunate to have both of you participate in their project.
The fact that she read about AAQI quilts in your blog, and you now own this one -- that's a lovely example of coming full circle.

  22. What makes the whole story even more full circle is that she lived in Oregon before she headed for the Himalayas! The universe reminds us day after day that we are all so connected and meant to reconnect in so many ways. It is such an awesome story and that you are now a part of it and own this beautiful little quilt is such a delight on so many levels and in so many, many ways. Awesome, Lori...absolutely awesome!!!!

  23. Hi, Lori. Thanks for the thoughtful references in your blog. You have a been such a catalyst for good, inspiring us to help find a cure for Alzheimer's thru our joyful making of small quilts. I look forward to making another batch for Ami and her squadron of scientists soon. Sorry for the delay, but I've just come out nearly back-to-back meditation retreats at Wat U-Mong in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Nyima.
