I finished the 4th and final border of the Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt!! Woo-Hoo!! I got my batting and extra wide backing this past week and lined up someone to machine baste it for me. It is going to be about 100" square and I wasn't thrilled with the idea of hand basting. Heck, I don't even have a place to lay it out to take a photo, much less baste it.
On Friday I picked up my daughter in Portland wand we went to visit my SIL and niece. All four of us went to the Puyallup Sewing and Stitchery Expo.Here is Bird Brain Designs booth- Love them and their adorable designs.
You wouldn't know it by looking here that the economy is still flat in the Pacific Northwest. It was busy and crowded!!
Some time has passed since I received these lovely gifts in the mail. The "wipers" are from
Messy Karen- hand made!! At a Christmas bazaar I just bought a crocheted (or knitted, I can't tell!) wash cloth and then I won these. I use them all the time. Thanks Karen!!

Christine. It's going to be perfect for my Just Takes 2 quilt. I have to say I am so disappointed in the directions, but will keep moving forward with it.

ReplyDeleteYou were at Puyallup? One of my sewing guru is/was there too. Looks quite happening and Bird Brain Designs are one of my favourite shops! Love their freebies ... okay I'll be the first to admit I'm cheap! LOL!!

LOVE your quilt border - what a great finish to your fabulous quilt. Some of the ladies in the hand quilting class are doing their own machine basting. I may try it on a smaller quilt...

ReplyDeleteYou and a few others are very disappointed in the instructions. I'm glad for others that we have a group, I can figure things out, as I know you can, but it can really put one off from moving forward. I'm not caught up, but not as far behind on JT2 as I was a week ago.

ReplyDeleteHow satisfying to complete those borders! You would need a gymnasium floor to baste it, but who would want to. Machine basting is great. I remember crawling around on the floor, and aching for a couple of days afterwards.
