Odds N Ends

I have started machine quilting my red and white, but I did want to get a few things out of the way first.
This month's Just Takes Forever blocks. I only made one mistake! (upper right hand block)
Red border on my little log cabin. I think this will make a nice size baby quilt for someone who wants a traditional old fashioned looking baby quilt. (probably not too many of them around)
Border on my birthday quilt.  It's 101x81 approximately so there isn't a good place for a photo. Top is done and I'm thrilled!! Thank you to all who participated and to my dear friend Randy who spearheaded the idea.Right now I have one extra block for the back and it will make a very nice label.

Along with these odds and ends I got my sewing room cleaned up! Yay!! I can actually walk in there now without tripping over books or fabric. lol

It's a good feeling to pick up the sewing area - how do we let it get so out of sorts!!! I did mine yesterday and it made me feel so good!!

  8. Chuckled at the new name for your red/white quilt. Hey, it looks planned--just the center goes the opposite way.
I LOVE traditional baby quilts, but you are right. It seems everyone is making them in the bright, modern prints that will keep baby awake!
Wonderful birthday quilt, Lori! Such a beautiful testament to your caring influence in blogland. : )

  11. Lori, your birthday quilt is absolutely amazing. In fact, I'd love to borrow it!!! :-)
The log cabin quilt would be great for my new not-yet-born grand daughter; I can keep it for her at my house.
And, now that I think of it, your original red/white quilt would look great on my bed.
    HAHAHA.
I love your stuff! Keep up the good work! And the JTF blocks look great! Just as they are!

  12. Just Takes Forever - lol! The blocks look great! I am so enjoying the posts with your birthday quilt - so many wonderful blocks - the border looks great. It will be a great size for sleeping under. I think the baby quilt is beautiful - I like it ever so much better than something modern and bright.

Watch my blog over the next couple of days. I am putting one together almost identical but without the names and definitely not that big.

Love the log cabin quilt too.

  19. Your birthday blocks quilt looks very good. It is going to be a good reminder of all your blogging friends and your 50th birthday celebration. I am trying to remember which block I made. Maybe the one in the lower left corner of the picture. I make that pattern sometimes when doing a block for a trade.

  21. Birthday quilt looks fabulous! It's enormous!! How satisfying is it to clean up the sewing room - I just hate that mine tends to go 'to seed' very quickly!

  22. The JTF block looks just fine! Will you fix it? I'm still on the first section of blocks- way behind. Your border on the Birthday quilt is great. I'm supposing you will hand quilt this one. It's been a great year to turn 50!
