Red and White

Look here! It pays to make a commitment to my fellow bloggers.
Straight lines, straight lines, straight lines......It was about as boring as making this two fabric, two color quilt.
More lines, more lines, more lines....
Ta-da! So worth it!! I am going to quilt a cable in the border and my stencil was not the right size. Good friends to the rescue! Randy sent me a stencil that should work perfectly!
Meanwhile I got the latest batch of Just Takes Two completed. Ok, so my Goose in the Pond is traditional while the one Gay and Brenda made is not. (the 4 red-white-red strips are going a different direction on my blocks) I got my pattern from Electric Quilt because I am really getting tired of paper piecing blocks that don't need it! I also made the block on the right 1" too small and will add a little border when the time comes to assemble it.
This is another version of the non-traditional Goose in the Pond! Yes, that is a seam ripper!! lol

If you can all wait one more day I'll draw a name tomorrow for the 600th post celebration. Thanks for your patience!! I'm spending the day with my hubby and Sven away from the house today.

  2. These red and white quilts are so stunning and make me keen to have a go, but then you said you got a little bored and I realised how bad I am at packing half finished things away ready for new excitement ( this statement does not apply to my husband ha ha)

  3. omg... you crack me up! that is how I'd feel about a 2 fabric quilt with straight stitching... bring on the color.. bring on the curves! might be why I have not done a 2 fabric quilt... mmmmm

  4. Looks lovely. Congrats on sticking with it - I love the look of two color quilts but have trouble keeping interest when working on them. And all that straight stitching, oh my!

  5. Wow, you got a lot done in the past few weeks! I guess those quilts would be good to work on with a good movie going. Come Christmas we will all be wanting one to decorate with, I bet you could sell a few of them.......

    Thanks for the inspiration!
I made a red and white quilt using traditional Goose in the Pond block a while ago. It is still a top. May be it is time to get it out and machine quilt it.

  19. Now that's one very gorgeous quilt. Love how the simple lines quilting just brings it all together albeit a rather monotonous journey.

Your JT2 blocks are coming along.

  22. Your red and white chain quilt is just amazing. Those two color beauties are such a challenge to see through to the end but are more than worth it. I love it!! I was poking around in my WIPs this weekend and thought about pulling out my red and white chain - you convinced me that it's totally worth the effort.

  23. The straight line quilting is perfect for this quilt. I absolutely love the result. Did you mark the lines? They look so precise.

  25. The threesome with Sven and your husband sounds a little kinky. LOL! Will Sven have to hang on the license plate again?

Staight lines boring or not look oh so good on your red & white quilt. Defnitely a good choice.

  26. I like the simplicity of the diagonal quilting with the red and white chain. It's the perfect choice. A two color quilt is hard to work on, but we all know is absolutely stunning when it's done.

  32. I love the straight line quilting on that quilt. I am so happy to see it because I am just finishing a red and white delectable mountains quilt which is a replica of an old one and the picture showed straight line quilting. I have been reluctant to do it. Now I am ready to go! Thanks for the nudge!

  38. Ah the seam ripper. My trusty old friend. Come to see me again. Can't live without it!

  39. The simplicity and drama of a 2-color quilt is always an eye opener. Yours is a stunner.
Ah yes, the importance of the ole trusty seam ripper cannot be diminished. It's nearly up there with the importance of needle and thread. Lovely blocks, Lori. Every time I see another set, I'm sorry I never started on these. The finished quilt will be spectacular.

  40. Wonderful! I have blue and white fabrics waiting to be cut and sewn into a Triple Irish Chain for my guest bed, so seeing your two color TIC is inspirational. What batting did you use? A cable will be the perfect finishing touch.
