Impromptu Maddering...

The other day after showing the madder humble little doll quilt, I felt the urge to make it!! Instead I worked on the medallion, getting most of the border machine appliqued.
Today I could resist no longer!! Want to join in?  This afternoon I played with Electric Quit and pulled some madder/red/brown from my stash.
Here's the little quilt again..take a look and pull some fabrics and I'll be back tomorrow with the block instructions.

I was not contacted by Jacky or Linda so I've drawn new names for the Elm Creek pins.

Deb- Loves to Quilt 2
and
Fiesta-Fiesta Quilting

are the new winners. Congratulations!
Please send me your email address and I'll get them in the mail.

  3. I have a "no-sew" week due to other responsibilities, but I will certainly catch up later! I am laughing at myself as I look closely at the quilt, asking myself, "Will you really be able to copy this, doing things that look like mistakes and just leaving it that way?" *LOL* Someone here needs to loosen up. : )

  12. I'm with Brandie here...what's a madder? Maybe you could do a blog post on colors. Like, what is turkey red? poison green? Etc. Food for thought anyway!

  15. I love th e blue/gray pieces in this little quilt... I'd have never thought of that, but it's the perfect accent to the madders. I have collected quite a few Madder reds and browns and have been thinking of finally doing something with them. Thanks for the inspiration , once again!

  17. Love madder prints!
Your title "impromptu maddering" reminds me of a line from Mrs Doubtfire where she/he pegged some obnoxious guy in the head with an orange and swore it was a "drive by fruiting"
Maybe I'll have to join in with a "drive by maddering"!!
    k

PS Brandie...Madder prints come a dye process using the madder root resulting in reddish browns. Different colour variations from copper to almost black come from different mordants used in the dye process.

  18. I'm in. Time to do something for ME. I skipped Abundance and Mountain Trails (though I still want to make them). It's definitely time to follow along again. Love the wonkiness and charm of this little quilt. I have browns pulled out and waiting for tomorrow.
