I brought this honkin' big quilt outside and when I looked at the photos today I noticed my settings were on small:( You'll have to wait until the next time to see better photos. I am excited to share with you that I have outlined 22 blocks!! Most of them have the motifs quilted in various areas around them too.
I'm using my frixion markers and various household items to make the quilt pattern. I've made several stencils that I am reusing if the motif is fairly similar.
My plan? Try and get the last 3 blocks outlined and all the motifs for the blocks quilted before the weather gets too hot. I think the border outlining and motifs will wait until autumn.
Have a fantastic day!
The use of Frixion pens has come up in the comments so I thought I'd add these links to my previous posts about them:

ReplyDeleteLove your quilt...beautiful.
ReplyDeletefabulous, I'm about 1/2 way on the outlining, not counting borders, Winter will be perfect to finish off the quilting. FF looked amazing, how fun to enjoy another quilters work that is so different from your own.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sandy
ReplyDeleteOh Lori your quilt is gorgeous. Lots of love and needling went into this one. I almost croaked when I saw that you were using the frixion pens to mark your quilting design. I have these pens and use them to mark hst lines but no quilting guides. Just this last week I read on at least three different blogs (can't remember which - but will try to retrace my blog surfing to find them) that the ink from these pens reappears and that when used on dark/med fabrics when applying heat/iron the ink fades/bleaches out the color from the fabric. Just a friendly work of caution.

You didn't leave an email address and are on no-reply so I am putting these links here. I've done my own unscientific experiment and feel very comfortable using the frixion pens on this quilt.

Your applique is lovely and so are the colors you chose for this quilt. I like the brightness of the greens. You must be so pleased to be at this stage in the process. I haven't bought the Cherry Tree pattern, though I've just gotten the free Sally Post patterns that Gay has re-offered and maybe I'll do that pretty quilt. I'll look forward to seeing your quilting as your proceed. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Your applique quilt is divine, so much for the eye to feast on!!! I often use household items to draw shapes, glasses, plates, all sorts, it's a big job, but well worth the effort!!!
