First Friday Featured Quilter

Last night was First Friday at Quiltworks in Bend and as I've mentioned before after my personal First Friday event I like to go and be supportive of other quilters. The featured quilter was
Donna Cherry. Her landscape quilts are not anything like I would make but they were beautiful!
This was a challenge quilt using a vintage block. The block she turned into the hammock.

You could feel the "chill" in this one!

I recognized this right away as a local place that rock climbers and hikers spend a lot of time; Smith Rock.

I dropped by on my way home and although I didn't hike, I breathed some fresh air and cleared my head.  It was a great way to end an afternoon.

  2. Those quilts are amazing! I don't think I would even try to make a landscape quilt. We have been to Smith Rock a few years ago when my granddaughter and son took a climbing lesson. It is a beautiful place.

  9. I'm in awe in the artistry that some people have especially with scenic quilts. It's not a place my talent or lack of it would ever take me LOL!! but I do admire their work!! I especially love the 'owl' quilt!!!!!

  10. I wouldn't even begin to try to create a scenic quilt myself, but I admire the talent of those who can create such realistic pictures from fabric. That's a unique skill. Thanks for sharing these gems.

  17. Lovely little quilt show for a Sunday. That first quilt reminds me of the Deschutes River. My husband and I used to enjoy walked along the windy path the Deschutes meandered. Thank you for the delightful photos!
