I thought I'd show the rest of my wool blocks. All prepped and ready to sew!
Pam from Library Gal Quilts and her friend Debbie have been making jewelry for some time and I asked if they could make me a special necklace to commemorate my skydiving. There is a funny story behind the phrase "Bravely Done" but I knew I needed it engraved after having to use my emergency chute on my second solo dive. I had her engrave the date of my first solo dive. She added a charm that says fly. This is a summer to remember that's for sure!!
precioso!!!!!

Very nice. I really like that idea of wool appliqued on cotton. No tucking the edges under! and it looks so rich. Will you use a blanket stitch, or what?
ReplyDeleteNow, skydiving... you ARE brave! That second jump must have given you a panic. Will you go again? I once "almost" had the opportunity to go to jump school, but it never happened. Now I can barely go up in a plane, let alone jump out of one!
These are tempting me. I really can't wait to see more and to see how you are going to sew them. This year I may take the leap into wool. assuming you tell me how easy it is.
ReplyDeleteLove Pam's necklace. She knows how to make them extra special. That sweet lady is of in Italy for her birthday. Im so jealous! Can't wait to hear about her trip!
Great looking blocks. I think I am going to love this quilt!
ReplyDeletePerfect necklace for you--I am in awe of your bravery. Do you plan to tell us the story behind the phrase?
Those blocks are beautiful, love the wools you used.

The changing of the season always seems like a good time to bring out the wool projects... it will be fun to watch your progress! Lovely necklace... wear it proudly!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern. The first block you showed just about convinced me to run out and buy the pattern now! This is going to be a lot of fun for you! Oh, and very sweet necklace too.:)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are beautiful and I love the necklace!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks will be so much fun to work on! They're looking great as is; I can hardly wait to see them transformed with stitching.
ReplyDeleteCool necklace to commemorate an adventurous summer!

Love the woolly flowers - have fun stitching them. Thank goodness you didn't tell us about having to open your emergency chute until way after the event - are you going again??
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece of personal jewelry! You have really had a high adventure-adrenaline filled summer! And of course your beautiful quilt making goes on, thankfully. Because I get my adrenaline rush from your quilts!
ReplyDeleteBased on the number of blocks you have prepped this is either going to be a really long road trip or you hand applique very quickly. Love the blocks and can't wait to see the finished project.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I like hearing that you had to use your emergency chute. There must be a story there.
ReplyDeleteI think I like the blocks better with wool than cotton applique. I will have to check my wool stash.
love, love the blocks in wool. emergency chute....ok so are you going to skydive again?????
ReplyDeleteKathie
Love the wool blocks, the are gorgeous ! And I have also used the stapler as suggested in one of my books. I am relieved that I am not the only person who can't seem to get along with the fusible. Skydiving ? I can only stand in admiration !
ReplyDeleteLove the wool blocks. The necklace is very nice. I am so glad that 2nd chute opened. Keep up the great blog.

Beautiful, Lori!!! I love working with wool! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your wool. Great idea to prep it all at once, then you'll always have a block to pick up and stitch. The necklace is wonderful. You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteLove the 'Bravely done' necklace.
ReplyDeleteDid you blog about the emergency chute? I do not remember that and I know I would have gotten nervous. You are brave and strong and amazing.
The rest of your wool pieces are pretty. Can't wait to see them stitched.
