I actually got in my sewing room this week and it feels good!
When blocks get moved from here to there for several months, pieces come up missing! Aargh!Remember I am machine appliqueing, so I can get them done faster. I finished the center and right bottom blocks. I got the swag pattern template drawn out last night.
I rearranged them and this will be my setting.
Look at this lovely linen piece I purchased the other day. I love it! I have a few ideas of what to do with it, but am wondering what your ideas would be. It measures approx 40x23.
Have a fantastic weekend and stay warm!
Knowing me I d make it into a pillow sham. Round/ bolster? Two squares? Or a door draft stopper. It would also be a lovely table topper with a prim wool applique...crock/ flowers/ flag/ birds....

The piece of linen fabric made me think of red embroidery of a deer or snowflake, for a table topper or a cushion.
ReplyDeleteIf you cut the fabric and there is any left over, you could sew an outfit for Sven.
Carole
Great idea about the outfit for Sven!
DeleteBenjamin Biggs is looking great! Beautiful linen piece. Some red embroidery is what comes to mind. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteYour BB looks awesome !! Bravo !
ReplyDeleteFor the piece of linen, some appliqués on it ? With a red outer border....
Enjoy.. !
I like your new arrangement of BB blocks...they are all beautiful. Wow- what lovely linen!. What a find...first thing that came to mind was a pillow with seasonal message...could be for a bench or bed with rustic backing. Oh the possibilities!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilts you make and these blocks are wonderful! As for the linen...my cold precludes my brain for thinking...so I have not idea beyond dish towel...pathetic
ReplyDeleteBeautiful BBiggs quilt! I love your layout. Glad to hear you could get back to the sewing room again AND found all your pieces/parts. The linen is lovely - my first thought was redwork and used as a center medallion with piecing around - piecing in the lovely reds of French General, but I can't wait to see what you come up with. Where did you find the linen? You've been out shopping in this cold weather?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece of linen - would make a lovely pillow, could even add some applique on it. Not sure how big it is but maybe two pillows... Did you find the missing blocks? Hope so. 31 here today - heat wave and how is your ankle doing? Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletepreciosos los bloques!!!
ReplyDeletecon la tela de lino, camino de mesa con apliques en rojo
veremos que se te ocurre
saludos
I love the blocks and your setting arrangement! I'd make a pillow from the linen piece.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are beautiful and I really need to find time to machine sew, too many projects to finish and they all need the machine at this point. I love the look of pillows with the old linen.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I would use it for some cross stitch definitely and make a bag or maybe pillow with it!
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks!! I think a bag would be beautiful out of the linen...or a pillow - I agree with redwork or cross stitch...or a journal cover. So fun to ponder! I always enjoy your beautiful quilts.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I love to get back in my sewing room when I have not been for a while.
ReplyDeleteThose block are wonderful!
The linen looks beautiful - I have no ideas but look forward to seeing what you make with it. Your block layout looks great!
ReplyDeleteHow about pairing the linen with some French Generals? Beautiful blocks.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of linen, just don't like the extra effort to make sure the edges don't ravel! Your BB blocks are looking wonderful.:)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look so good! I wouldn't have a clue what to do with the linen, maybe a tote but I know you'll have a great idea and then I'll wonder why I didn't think of it.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are beautiful. I see a tote bag or an oblong pillow. You could also do some stenciling or painting on the linen or you could do some counted cross stitch. As above, I am sure whatever you come up with will be fantastic. You are very creative.
ReplyDeleteYour BB blocks look fantastic together. Can't wait to see the swag border. Love the linen piece.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are looking awesome! Go to Pinterest and do a search for Grain Sacks--you will find tons of cool ideas for your fabric!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori! I think this will be a masterpiece! May I make a suggestion?
ReplyDeleteWhat about if you traded p,aces with the upper middle block with the middle block? It is bigger and I feel the size, colours and proportions will be better balanced, and your upper middle block will be framed in the centrre by all the other lovely blocks!
Looking to seeing sashing, or what is next! Take are, Leslie
Your blocks look really good!
ReplyDeleteJust finished up a retreat with Stacy West (Buttermilk Basin) and I recall seeing a table runner pattern using a similarly striped toweling, with some wool applique on the ends.
So glad you got some sewing time in! I think your BB blocks look fabulous! Your linen piece is beautiful, but I have no ideas, sorry.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting in there in the ole sewing space. I am feeling a little displaced in my sewing adventures…..but your BB blocks are inspiring me. I have all the patterns for this printed out but am waiting for the inspiration to strike to start on it!!
ReplyDeleteLori your BB Blocks are just awesome. Loving the colors and fabrics you choose. Once that swag border gets added it will be even more special. Oh, on that linen, how about a little wool applique above and below the red -- use red wool, make it look like redwork only in wool. Then finish it off as a decorative pillow 14x28 ?? It's really sweet.
ReplyDeleteI love your applique - such wonderful colors beautiful designs! I saw a counted cross stitch (I think I put it on my Pinterest cross stitch board) red deer looking up at a star that would be perfect on this. blessings, marlene
