This giveaway is now closed!
Before the holidays I was contacted by Cindy, owner of The Stencil Company about hosting a giveaway of hand quilting stencils. She is seeing more and more machine quilting (they sell those stencils too) but she doesn't want to see hand quilting to disappear.
Although I do both I was willing to help promote their wonderful stencils. I bet you've seen them at shows or have a few of their stencils in your sewing room. They have been in business for 30 years!
The catalog and online presence is huge and I had a hard time choosing a few stencils.
But this is what I chose from their catalog. Read through my blog and see what you need to do to win some just like it!
I'll start with my largest hand quilting project. Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt.
I'm quilting like the original and adding lovely and some quirky motifs. I thought these little flowers would be a perfect addition!I used my frixion pen and the stencil to mark my design. (I've done tests with the frixion- search my blog if you are interested)
I haven't hand quilted in awhile so it takes a little time for me to warm up.
Iron to remove marks.
Ta-Da! Motif!
I got a little carried away with my photos.
I love this quilt!
If I did every other stencil line the arcs would be 1" apart, which personally is good.
If you want to have close lines together (1/2") you could use every line. One stencil- 2 ways!
When I use my other stencils I will also show you on my blog, but because I am the world's slowest hand quilter I will not make you wait for me to use them all!
Leave a comment and 6 lucky winners (yes SIX!) will receive the same 4 stencils I ordered! Isn't that great!? I'll draw next Tuesday, March 3.
If you do not hear from me to say you are in the drawing that probably means you are a no-reply commenter and have not left your email address either. You will not be eligible to win.
On my side bar is a post about how to fix it. Feel free to leave me a test message, as well.
Good luck and Happy Monday!
This giveaway is now CLOSED!
I have several stencils from the Stencil Company and would love to add these to my collection.
ReplyDeleteLove your Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt, outstanding hand quilting. I have some of The Stencil Company stencils, they have such lovely designs. I love hand quilting, but I'm also very slow. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI am a hand quilter, I love town those stencils. Thanks for a chance in this great give away and for your lovely blog with lots of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm a slow quilter too!!
ReplyDeleteGreat stencils!
I enjoy watching the progress on your quilts and found your research on the Frixion pens very useful. As a result, I still use them. The stencils would make a great addition to my small collection.
ReplyDeleteBeyond the Cherry Tree is looking great! I love to hand quilt but haven't for awhile...I have 2 quilt tops just waiting. Maybe some new stencils will give me the incentive to start? Thanks for a chance at the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteAs many French quilters, I am a hand quilter and if I've got the chance to win these beautiful stencils, it will be wonderful !!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this give away ! ;)
Thanks for the chance to win these great stencils.
ReplyDeleteWow! Six stencils!!! Thank you so much for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI struggle with hand quilting, but the more I practice the better I "hope" to get. It can be frustrating, but rewarding at the same time. Thank you for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI love to hand quilt and have kept my quilting to very basic stitches. I would love to use templates and challenge myself to some different patterns. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI just finished my first queen sized quilt top and would love to use the Baptist Fan to quilt it. Thank you for showing us your quilt. It is beautiful. Also, thanks for having the stencils for a chance win!
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Emily
I am a big stitch quilter and would love to try these stencils.
ReplyDeleteYou are a no-reply commenter Donna!
DeleteI love hand quilting and would love to add a few more stencils to the arsenal! Like you, I'm a fairly slow hand quilter but have completed several in the past couple of years. Next up is a vintage king size top that is already partially pre-marked. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteLike you I both hand quilt and machine quilt but will say I think there is nothing so pretty as hand quilting, I have never used Baptist fan and would love to - thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteHand quilting is something I could definitely use some help with. Thank you for the opportunity to win these beautiful stencils.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway, I have several tops to quilt.
ReplyDeleteBaptist fans are my favorite. I have not been able to find a stencil anywhere. Thanks for the opportunity. Love following your blog. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteFans are my all-time favorite. Just in the last couple of years I have started quilting by hand - only little quilts so far, but I have a couple of larger tops that I want to hand quilt. Love how your Under the Cherry Tree is coming along!
ReplyDeleteSo fitting you chose Baptist fan to quilt your Jill quilt. She loved that pattern. I used it on my Jill quilt as well. Your post has me inspired to bring out a hand quilting project. It has been a long time.
ReplyDeleteLove your stencil selection. Hope to win!
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to hand quilt a top that my great-grandmother pieced and am planning on using the Baptist Fan. This stencil would be perfect! Your quilts are beautiful. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe baptist is my favorite pattern for all my reproduction quilts. Thanks for this awesome give away!!
ReplyDeleteI have several Stencil Company stencils, and would love to add the ones you selected to my collection, I only hand quilt, and I'm slow, too, but I'm ok with that. I try not to think about how quickly I can get things done, but rather to slow down and enjoy the process. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI love the Stencil Company! I hand quilt also and order from them and always pick up some new ones at the quilt shows. The Baptist Fan is also my all time favorite. Thanks to both of you for the giveaway. I'd love to win. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteI also do both hand and machine quilting. Hand work is so relaxing. You have chosen perfect stencils!
ReplyDeleteI am with you regarding the Baptist fan....it is my favorite overall quilt design. I do mostly machine quilting and reserve hand quilt for small projects or those that are "special" . Only because I'm slow too! and not every quilt is a family heirloom and they need to get done fast. The hand quilted projects are the best. Love the stencils. thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI've done a little bit of hand quilting, but just straight lines so far. I'd love a chance to try some of these designs that are in these stencils! Thanks for the reminder on the frixion pens too... I'm always looking for marking pens that work as promised...
ReplyDeleteI am a hand stitcher and would love to win these stencils. Thanks so much for a chance.. Your cherry quilt is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of tetany tiny stencils but I lust after that Baptist fan stencil. I could definitely put that to good use!
ReplyDeleteAs a hand quilter, I too am committed to making sure that hand quilting doesn't disappear. Thanks to you and the Stencil Company for your parts in that effort. I've never quilted the Baptist Fan pattern and would love to use that in one of my upcoming quilts. Thanks for this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to hand quilt, even big-stitch hand quilting. I learned eensy, teensy stitches but I find it just depends on the "flavor" of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteI mostly quilt on my home machine but enjoy having a hand project for tv time.... My very good friend just won best of show in the hand quilting category at our local show in South Texas. Always amazed by beautiful hand quilting
ReplyDeleteOh I love the Stencil Company's products. Enter me too! I'm not sure what my settings are and on this phone I wouldn't have a clue where to look., so here is my contact info. Deb Brown - djbrown04@yahoo.com Thanks for the give away Lori
ReplyDeleteYour Beyond the Cherry Trees quilt is looking so good. I saved the patterns and seeing yours has got me thinking seriously about getting started on mine. I have a small collection of stencils and they are so useful for hand or machine quilting. I tend to do more machine quilting because I find the hand quilting is just too hard on my finger joints but seeing what you are doing is making me think I want to see if there is one more quilt in my fingers! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love using stencils, so thanks for the giveaway and showing us your WIP.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt. I really could use that large baptist fan stencil. Thank you for this opportunity.
ReplyDeleteLorraine
Thank you Lori for this generous give-away. I love handquilting and therefore would love to participate.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Sylvia
OOOOHHHHHH!!!!!! These stencils are lovely. Baptist fans are my favorite all over quilting design. This large stencil would make it very easy to mark a large quilt in a short time. Thank you for your wonderful blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the stencil company's stencils. I've used them for years. I agree that skipping every other line in the Baptist Fan works well. I like the 1" separation. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Your hand quilting is just beautiful. I can only aspire to every do as well, but these stencils would surely help.
ReplyDeleteI love to see the details of your BTCT quilt. I am working on mine and have started on the cherries and grapes. I am thinking about quilting my 2012 Just Takes 2 quilt with Baptist fans.
ReplyDeletegrammakiss (at) gmail (dot) com
HI Lori, your hand quilting is adding such yummy good texture to your applique quilt!! I would love to be put in the draw for the stencils, because I have worn out my baptist fans stencil!! LOL! Thank you for having this fun giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteThese stencils are just what I need to make the "leap" to hand quilting! Love your hand quilting, it is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
nettiecrain@live.com
Your quilt is looking awesome with all those beautiful stitches. Hand quilting is an art form. I've used lots of the Stencil Company's stencils. They have some great designs.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices, I hope to win them! Love to hand quilt and still preach it to others.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks so great - I love seeing how you are quilting it. The Stencil Co. is awesome and anytime I go on their website and have a hard time not ordering a bazillion stencils! They have a new-ish collection called The Zion that originated in my grandmother's church - these were designs that she and her quilting friends used - I want them all!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts and quilting - especially the Beyond the Cherry Tree. I do still hand quilt some of my quilts, but don't have any of the stencils you shared. Thanks for your generous offer of a chance to add these to my home!
ReplyDeleteI love to hand quilt! I am just about finished with my current project, using the clam shell pattern for quilting. I have another top to do that would be perfect with the baptist fan! Thanks so much for sharing your quilts with us!! -- they are beautiful and very inspirational!!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous stencils! Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

I love to have some hand quilting for in front of the TV. Thanks for the opportunity to win these terrific stencils.
ReplyDeleteThe Stencil Company makes lots of great stencils. You made some really good choices. Your Cherry Tree is just so beautiful and the hand quilting really makes it special.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win the stencils. The Baptist Fan Stencil would very useful.
ReplyDeleteI think the Baptist fan is my favorite, because I do mainly scrap quilts and it doesn't interfere with the pattern. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeletequiltschon@att.net
I'd love to win these stencils - l really enjoy hand work. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori! I'don't love to win. Love the Baptist fans. Jo Anna Mollman
ReplyDeleteI always try to pick up a few new stencils when I'm at a big quilt show. I love the classic Baptist fans!
ReplyDeleteThese stencils are great and thank you for the chance to win them! Your quilting is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove these stencils. I usually wing Baptist fans, but these stencils would keep my lines from going wonky. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteT erry
The stencil company is one of my favorite stops at the big quilt shows. I so appreciate that they make their catalogs available, I refer back to it always when I am looking for quilting ideas.
ReplyDeleteYour Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt is beautiful! I love handwork too. Thanks for the chance to win some great stencils!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win these stencils! I don't have any stencils yet -- I'm relatively new to quilting. Thank you for the giveaway. I love the quilt you're making, with the quilted flowers scattered in the crosshatching! sarah@forrussia.org
ReplyDeleteWoohoo. Thanks for the opportunity. Your appliqué quilt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have recently dabbled in hand quilting and love it..... I would love to try these stencils!!
ReplyDeleteI like the stencils you selected - a lot of options with them. Your Cherry Tree quilt is really looking lovely. Thank you for the giveaway. shelquilts at aol dot com
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of these stencils. I do most of my hand quilting with perle cotton. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love hand quilting and wish I could do all my quilts that way but it is hard to finish things if I did, but I still tend to go with hand quilting over machine. I know my hands won't jam up or if I do make a mistake, it is easy enough to pull out the stitch;) I have supplies to use with stencils, but haven't found any good ones in our area.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Great Giveaway. How nice of Cindy - count me in. Their stencils are the best!
ReplyDeleteThe fan is perfect for Jill's quilt.
I <3 hand quilting! I also consider myself to be very slow, but would love to try these stencils. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI am a slow hand quilter but I love doing it. thanks for the give away
ReplyDeleteNICE quilting. I love that quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great prize! Your quilting (and quilts) are beautiful! thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteOh, boy!!! New quilting stencils. I hand quilt all my quilts and am always looking for motifs and ideas. Please include me in the drawing for these stencils. I can really use them.
ReplyDeleteI love the baptist fan...I've been wanting to use that pattern on one of my quilts!! Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeletecheris46@hotmail.com
I love the quilt you got carried away showing us pictures of! :-) I am starting to hand quilt more and these look like great ones to start with. Thanks so much. K-
ReplyDeleteMy quilt friend and teacher used the Baptist Fan in many of the quilts that she quilted on her Grandma's quilt frame, such a special memory. Thanks for hosting the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love to use stencils for hand and machine quilting. Thanks for the giveaway, Lori.
ReplyDeleteI love to hand quilt. It's great for tv time with the hubby. I've been wanting to quilt a project with a baptist fan...maybe this will be my lucky day!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. I love doing hand quilting, but I'm the slowest, I know I am! What a wonderful and generous prize. Thanks for your fun and informative blog.
ReplyDeleteI also agree about not wanting hand quilting to disappear. It is just so relaxing to sit and do some hand work, but in this day and age everything is about hurry up and get it done. I am pleased to see the stencil for the fans, so much easier to mark it with that stencil. Wanna know what the weird part is? I Googled the Stencil Company and it appears that there address is about 3 miles from my home and I never knew!
ReplyDeleteI love to hand quilt and I have a few stencils from The Stencil Company. I really like them, they are sturdy and they have so many wonderful designs. You picked some great ones. Thank you and The Stencil Company for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori.....I thought I was the last of "the red hot hand-quilters"! But I see there are still lots of us.......love the peace I find when lost in my thoughts with quilt and hoop in hand.
ReplyDeleteMona
I have quite a few stencils from the Stencil Company, and their customer service is outstanding. Always the first place I look for a new design to use.
ReplyDeleteJust getting back into hand quilting after many years of machine quilting and am loving it. So soothing. Thanks for the chance to win some great stencils!
ReplyDeleteI have less trouble hand quilting than I do making a comment!!!! I am fairly new to hand quilting but I am really enjoying it - I love the way it slows the pace!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. Lovely stencils

ReplyDeleteI would love a chance to try using a stencil. I have never used one before and I was just searching the other day for some.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Thank you both for supporting hand quilting. While I am still working on getting even stitches I find it peaceful and a great opportunity to take time to slow down and to focus on the quilting. Good luck to all.
ReplyDeleteI love the stencils, and love hand quilting. Although, like you, I'm quite slow at it and am sometimes very frustrated by it. But when finished, there is nothing like it. I also love your jewel box quilt. I've never been much of a fan of that particular pattern, but with that blue background of yours, it looks fabulous and might entice me to try one.
ReplyDeleteI love the Baptist fan stencil! Wonder why it's not Methodist? LOL
ReplyDeleteI love stitching by hand. These stencils are great. I love that fan.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this stencil company, I always look through the stencils and shops, this website will be a treat!
ReplyDeleteI love the baptist fan on your quilt, just perfect!! I hope I get to see your applique quilt in a show sometime, it is so beautiful!

ReplyDeleteakk_nana@yahoo.com
Thanks, Lori, for a chance to add to my stencil collection. I love stencils!
ReplyDeleteBig_dog_max@yahoo.com
I love the Stencil Company and can spend hours at their booth when I attend big shows. I have also ordered from them online with great success. I absolutely love to hand quilt and quilting stencils are one of my weaknesses. Just meaning that I love buying them (sometimes for no project in mind, just because I love a particular stencil and hope to use it someday). These are all great stencils that you have chosen and I do not own one of them. So, I would a love a chance to win. Thanks for sharing Stencil Company!
ReplyDeleteI'd love a chance to win the stencils Lori! Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHi, Lori. Thanks so much for offering these stencils and showing us how you've used them. I quilt by hand but I've never used stencils, though I did make some shapes on cardboard which I cut around, then traced around. I think stencils would be much easier.

I would like to win, I have not hand quilted yet but then I am only finishing my first quilt this week! Thank you
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity, Lori.
ReplyDeleteHand quilting stencils are difficult to find here. Most of my hand quilting has been on minis and usually just straight lines. I would love to have a go at something more challenging.
I'm off to look at The Stencil Company's website!
I'd love to try out these stencils, thanks for the chance to win them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!! I have lots of tops to quilt.

DeleteI love the Stencil Company and have purchased many of their stencils over the years. While I have been doing more machine quilting it has been mostly for charity quilts that need to be completed a lot quicker than I can do with hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous giveaway. . . .please add me to the "hat".

ReplyDeleteThe Baptist fan, or sometimes called Bishop's fan, is my favorite stencil for quilting. I've never been able to find a large stencil with the curves 1/2" apart. I would definitely use it!
Your cherry blossom quilt is very pretty. How long did it take you to applique her?
How's this?

I hope to use it on a hand quilted quilt.
Hi Lori! Your "Beyond the Cherry Tree" is such a beautiful quilt and you are doing some wonderful hand quilting on it. I have a quilt top my Grandmother started and my Mother finished up. I plan on hand quilting Baptist Fans on it so that template would be perfect. Thank you for the chance to win one.
