This week kicks off the festivities of the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.
Friday morning volunteers met up to deliver Sponsor quilts to businesses in Sisters. This is the 3rd year I've done this and it is fun to see the businesses get excited about the quilt show. Here is Jeanette giving us our directions before sending us out.
Intake of quilts has started too. Here are volunteers labeling folding and getting them organized.
The quilts are organized by theme. This large room is really wonderful for it.
Here I am at Sisters Art Works getting ready to hang this quilt by Kristin Sheilds. It will hang for the whole month of July.
On another note, I loved this book! You may want to put it on your reading list.
If you want to see what I was up to this weekend check it out HERE.
How fun to help with set up. I am happy you liked the book. Such great characters. What will you read next?
ReplyDeleteThe quilt you are holding goes so well with the business where it will be displayed. Very nice! I'm curious about the book - I bought it about a month ago and have started it but haven't been drawn in yet. Did you find it started slow and then got better? I am really not far into it.
ReplyDeleteI think you achieved subtle in your block. I really like it!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun and busy time getting ready for the Sisters show.
OHHHH, I wanna come help hang quilts someday! I miss having our Quilt Walk in Walla Walla.
ReplyDeleteI never saw a Sister Show on blogs and I hope (if you can !) you will post some photos about it ! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've only been to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show once, and it was fabulous. I'm always amazed that the quilts go up in the morning and then come down that same night. Hoping I'll be able to get there again soon. Loved the book, best read in a long time. Although The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, and A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler were a close second.
ReplyDeleteOne day I'll make it to Sisters Quilt Show. In the meantime I'll have to enjoy through you & others. Thank you for the book suggestion. It sounds interesting and I just put it on my "To Read" list!
ReplyDeleteThe fabric you chose for this star is absolutely amazing. Love it! I am looking into the book you recommended.

ReplyDeleteSister/Sisters!!! Wish I could come and help you!! I reserved that book at our library...it is checked out...
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to the show in so many years! Miss it.:)
ReplyDeleteI love your Star! And the quilt show prep looks like hard work but fun.
ReplyDeleteYour star looks great! I look forward to hearing all about the show from you :0)
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics in your block! I haven't decided if I will go to the quilt show this year. If my SIL wants to go, I might. That camp ground looks awesome! We might have to check it out if we ever get our camper fixed up. Does it have sites for 5th wheels?
ReplyDeleteI thought you might be doing the volunteer quilt thing again. Won't be long until show time. Some of my quilting friends are supposed to attend the show. Lucky them!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on my stars today too. Doing some blocks with that fade-away look is a good idea. Love that novel - one of the best I've read in recent years!
ReplyDeleteI have done that and I agree it is fun to hang the donor quilts. I worked in the office yesterday, so many wonderful quilts to see and seeing them up close is a treat! It amazes me that I can not always find them in the show!!! I like your star block, nice fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteI've read that book too...great read
ReplyDeleteI loved this book too!!
ReplyDeletei loved the book - and your star is fab!!
ReplyDeleteI have been making dresses for your drive and notice that all of the little girls are wearing tee shirts with the dresses. Should we send tee's as well? Carline, bandcanthony@gmail.com
