Impromptu Trip South

My son has been traveling since the beginning of February and they spent a little time re-grouping after being in South Korea and Japan for a month. Monday he suggested we meet somewhere before they leave the states again. I found a flight, he found us a hotel and we were on our way Friday morning to Las Vegas! I love to be spontaneous but it usually doesn't fall into place this quickly or easily. I've been to Las Vegas once around 1997 and I wasn't much of a fan then and I'm still not a convert. It was so good to see him and his girlfriend and we did have a really fun time.
In case you haven't been, I'm sharing a few photos. The last 2 will be quilt related!

The Excalibur is where we stayed.
 Everything is so over-the-top!

It really felt like we were outside here.
We saw this show and it was so good!
Hanging with the Beatles.

I had to snap a photo of this floor!
I got a few stitches taken in the plane on the way.

Dixie mentioned going to a quilt shop in the city, but our trip was already so short I opted to spend time with the kids instead. Thanks for coming along on my getaway.!

Have a wonderful day!

  2. I don't go out of my way to visit the Strip, but I'm sure it was good to spend time with your son. What has him doing all of that traveling?

  3. I love the Ballagio Fountain. There's more to see. I liked seeing Donny & Marie. The Was Museum was a favorite too.

  7. I am not a big Vegas fan either. Oh it is fun to play the slots and see the lights and sights but I don't like wasting money I could be spending on fabric.

  8. I've never been to Vegas - it doesn't appeal to me but to spend time with your son - definitely would be worth it! Glad you had a fun trip :0)

  11. Never in my life have I ever thought about a trip to Las Vegas...but it does look like you had some fun! Your son and his girlfriend make a lovely couple----but I'm a little confused.....you DON'T LOOK OLD ENOUGH to have a grown son! The quilt photos are too cute....(and I'm already drafting out that parquet flooring...lol). I'm so glad you got to spend time with your family. The older I get the more precious each moment is spent with my children and grandbitties.

  13. Great pics! I heard about good quilt stores there but never have time to find them on our business trips to Vegas. Glad you got to see Kenny! Where are they off to next?
