Sheryl, who I will be getting to know at Houston this fall writes:
Last year I became involved in the Rare
Bear movement. This is an army started by Dr. Christina Waters and her mother,
who is a quilter! Dr. Waters does research in rare childhood diseases. There
are lots of statistics but the short end is: her mother started making bears
out of her cotton quilt leftovers to gift to these children who are suffering
from these rare diseases , and the "army" is those of us who are volunteering to
make these bears.
Mine isn't very creative, but think it will be loved regardless.
Here's my Instagram feed for the past 2 weeks!
It sounds like a few of you have been booted off of lists.... I'm in good company then. LOL
Without further ado Barbara Woods, you are the winner of the magazine. Please send me your mailing address and I'll get it into the mail.
Let's have an awesome weekend!
Very cute bear. I pulled fabric for one yesterday!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! You make me dizzy with all you accomplish. I haven't even finished my X blocks yet and look, you are into another wonderful project. I admire your enthusiasm and good will!

ReplyDeleteCongrats to Barbara !
Your bear is so cute! I made one for my oldest daughter when she was six, but it turned out so ugly that all in the family called him "the monster". Anyway, my daughter loved him until we moved in another town and he got lost. When she was eighteen I made another bear for present at her birthday, this time I called him "the monster #2: the revenge" . He was very beautiful, and everyone in the family agree. She is now 38 years old, and she still love him .
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Barbara!
Your bear is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour bear looks cute! What a great idea. Rina's story made me smile :0)
ReplyDeleteCute bear. A nice effort to give comfort to kids undergoing tough times with rare diseases. I know how hard it was to watch my grandson go through testing and treatments when he didn't understand what was happening, or why. Something to cuddle is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute bear and I know a child will love it, what a wonderful cause and way to use our stash to help others.
