I'm going to do a simple cross hatch. I have it marked one way, and when it is quilted I will remove the basting and mark it going the other direction. I told my friend last night I'll try and get it completed in 2 marathon machine quilting sessions.
I've also finished marking the border one direction as well on my Cherry Tree quilt.
My wrist is really giving me a hard time, so hand quilting may be set aside for awhile. I thought a week off in TX would help, it didn't.
Here's my Instagram feed for the week. It was such a beautiful day yesterday I had to get out and enjoy it.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Nice stars! It's never too late to start quilting :) You're making good progress on your beautiful applique quilt. Hope your wrist feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteLove that yellow! Your stars really shine!
ReplyDeleteI'm still handquilting my stars.
ReplyDeletevery nice....haven't basted mine yet but it's on the list...LOL...it was a wonderful sew along...
ReplyDeleteI love your yellow!! So very pretty and cheerful...wish I could have seen you while you were in Texas...yeehaw!!
ReplyDeletehooray for cheddar! looks like you had a great time in Texas!
ReplyDeleteMy BTCT border is only quilted in one direction. When I sent it out for marking, they said lots of vintage quilts had only one direction of quilting in the border so I did mine that way. If you haven't done any on the cross, consider that option. I'll send you a picture.
ReplyDeleteLook at you go. I stall out when it comes to marking and basting. I need a swift kick in the pants to get motivated. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the bright burst of cheddar. It's so cheerful. Sorry about your wrist. That is so frustrating. My wrist is okay but my right shoulder aches after after spending time hand quilting or doing applique. I wish I had done the Cherry Tree quilt. It is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your wrist. I messed up my wrist in a marathon cutting session last winter, and it flares up whenever I do too much of the same repetitive movement. Strangely enough, in my case hand quilting doesn't bother it much, though FMQ and machine quilting does. I'm also probably 20 years older than you so a lot of arthritis has set in. You may be helped by wearing a wrist or thumb brace at night for awhile, though an x-ray is definitely recommended before trying anything. Anyway, I hope the weather improving in spring and summer will help the situation.
ReplyDeleteI love your stars! I hope the machine quilting goes really well. I need to do some marathon machine quilting sessions - I have tops a lot older than 2015 ... Always just adore your handquilting progress - I hope your wrist is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteBoth your quilts are gorgeous and beautifully made.
ReplyDeleteI tried giving my arm a rest, that lasted about 5 minutes, lol.

Loved the yellow you used in that Stars quilt - so striking.
ReplyDeleteYummy cheddar accents in your Stars In A Time Warp. Take care of that wrist...after 2 broken ones, mine gets tired more easily when it comes to hand quilting. I found those slightly elasticized gloves helped - they are made of some kind of stretchy fabric that gives support - the fingers are free as the gloves cover up to the first joints only. Just a thought...
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the comments above, I guess I am not the only one who noticed the lovely cheddar setting blocks in your Stars quilt! You have really made progress on your Cherry Tree quilt. I have been hand quilting my Old Voices New Impressions top. I hope you wrist doesn’t keep bothering you.
ReplyDeleteLori que bonitas y alegres tus estrellas.
ReplyDeleteSiento tus problemas en la muñeca, espero que pasen pronto
Saludos
