If you would like to sewalong here's a sampling of the various shades of browns I used. The quilt is going to measure approx 14"x18" so it's likely you really won't need 50!! LOL
If you watched the video from last Friday you know I mentioned a teeny bit of pink (4- 1 1/2" squares) and a teeny bit of blue (2- 1 1/2" squares)
You'll be surprised at how many different shades of brown there is. Some are tinted with yellow, some are a bit more red. If you lay them out and one keeps looking out of place, then just pull it out. Find a nice variety and be ready to start a super easy quiltalong when I return on Monday September 21st.
As for the name:
This is my world late summer- lots of brown!
Most recently our usual amazing blue skies are brown!
It got so thick not even the sun was peaking through.
So many shades of brown!
No matter what's going on, have a terrific week.
Browns yes but I love the blues in those photos too!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have fun pulling out some brown fabrics this week--looking forward to next Monday. I think we are having some effects of the smoke even here in Minnesota. The rising sun this morning was strangely hazy. It's all so tragic and sad.
ReplyDeleteBrown is my favorite color !!
ReplyDeleteI'm in of course :)
Thank you Lori !
Brown isn't a color that I buy very often, but with a touch of blue and pink it should be really pretty. Looking forward to seeing this project.
ReplyDeleteLove browns and have a fair amount in my stash as well as scraps. Looking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteOn it girlie!!!
ReplyDeleteI will be stash diving to see if I can come up with a good variety of browns. At a glance, I have too many in the same shade. This will be an adventure. Who knows what lurks in the deepest recesses of the "brown" shelf, drawer, and basket?? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to stitching along
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching. My Brown stash didn't come with me to Nebraska.
ReplyDeleteI was going to pass this time, but then, just for grins, I counted the browns in my stash and in my brown scraps bag. Lo and behold, I have well over 50 shades of brown! So I'm going to sew along!
ReplyDeleteso with this post it seems the place to start pulling brown is the scrap bucket..... then the Jo fabric..... see you Monday.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds right up my alley, Lori. I have stacks of brown! (Do you mind a plug? For those who can’t find enough browns in their stash, Temecula Quilt Co. has a new line called Bygone Browns, perfect for this project. Also of the “cooler” tone, like the ones you show.)
ReplyDeleteThe name of your sew-along caught my eye. A creative thought on your part. I did not see your video but will watch it.
ReplyDeletei would love to join, when will you be starting?
ReplyDeleteJe viens de decouvrir mais étant Amoureuse du Marron je vais préparer cela ce week-end end ... merci
ReplyDeleteWonderful!!
