Looking for....

I have this great hearty old Bernina....

That still needs a foot pedal for. Does anyone have experience with aftermarket pedals? Or a reliable source for foot pedals? I'd like to get it running then pass along my Viking.

I had an amazing weekend!
Friday started off here:

BalsamRoot and lupine are in their prime right now on the Columbia River Gorge. I had some time and stopped by for an afternoon in the sun! So incredible!

Then I made my way to meet two friends for an overnight backpacking trip.

The desert is about the only assessable area this time of the year.
This is Ancient Lake by Quincy, WA

Dusty Lake is where we pitched our tents. Was great to meet up with friends I haven't seen for some time.

Have a super fantastic day!

  3. I have no experience with after market foot pedals but you might call Aaron at the Quilting Delights (503)658-1600 in Milwaukie Oregon. He is repairman extraordinaire. Last time I had him work on my machine he had a bunch of old machines that he uses for parts. He might have one to sell. If not he might be able to advise you.

    Great pictures of your trip.

  4. Try Ace Sew & Vac in Newberg or Tigard. They are long time Bernina folk.

  5. Try ebay. Just put genuine in the search box along with Bernina and the model number with foot pedal and see what comes up.

  6. I have purchased after market foot pedals off Ebay. One for my 301 and another for my Pfaff. Both were new and work perfectly. Good luck!

  7. Anything Bernina (or older machines, period) I'd contact Hinkletown Sewing Machine shop in Ephrata, PA (heart of Amish country). 717.354.0204

  8. I have a similar model (860 sport I think) and I was able to get a replacement pedal at South Portland Sewing Center (Portland, Maine that is). You can give them a try and see if they can ship you one. (www.SouthPortlandSewingctr.com) They are super nice people and I have been dealing with them since 1985. Looks like you had a super camp out. Gorgeous!

  9. I have replaced foot pedals and other parts thru online sources [amazon, sewingmchineparts.com] with no problems at all. Tho be sure you can return.
If you haven't ever used the Bernina, make sure the zigzag is what you like and use before you give away your Viking. My older Brother machine does lovely zigzag, the tiny one for applique, my new Janome just makes a mess.

    lovely wildflowers, so hopeful.

  10. I found my Bernina Record 830 at a thrift for $25. All that was missing was the cord. I found an original used one for $8 on Amazon. The 830 is a beloved machine and there are lots of replacement parts available for it.

  13. I have a similar problem with my beloved Bernina Nova from 1974. The foot pedal no longer works, and I have been told that it was made for such a short time that there are no replacement pedals or parts available. Hope you can find something that works for your machine!

  17. Lovely camping with friends by a lake! Any wildfowl to watch, listen to? When we lived at Coulee City, WA we would drive west on Hwy 2, then take a turn off (north) to Jameson Lake and LOTS of birds were there enjoying the area. Turtles too. Worth the visit if you are near there some time!

    1. It was pretty quiet. The frogs lulled us to sleep though.
