Friday Update

First off I want to apologize for asking you all to come to the Panel Pinterest board and then not approving you! I didn't think I had it set up correctly, but for those of you that requested, you are approved! Feel free to add any panels or panel quilts that you'd like to share with us. Not all of the ones I've saved there are considered panels, but hopefully they will inspire you!

You can find it HERE and collaborate if you'd like.

I'm going to get back to my little George Washington panel quilt soon.

I've been dealing with shoulder pain for going on 5 months now. I'm a side sleeper so it has been affecting my sleeping. (not to mention a blow up pad in a tent! lol) So, I tried massage to get it worked out, then saw a specialist in active release techniques, and it actually got worse. Went to the PA at my clinic and she referred me to an orthopedic who gave me a cortisone shot yesterday! I am hoping that is the ticket to getting it better and back on the road to restful nights and being able to style the left side of my hair with my right arm! lololol

At least once a year Cory and I like to go out backpacking together to some epic place. This year was the Steens Mountain Wilderness in SE Oregon. Amazing and incredible are my descriptive words.

Little Blitzen Gorge where we backpacked into.

We got a little rain day hiking. At least it wasn't cold, just wet.

Little Blitzen River. They call it wild and scenic and it sure was!

We passed 4 horse riders at the TH and we saw nobody else for 3 days!

I posted 2 short videos on YouTube- one of the gorge from the opposite end of where we hiked in (6,200' elevation) and the other short video is of the wild horses! I loved seeing them! Check it out HERE if you'd like. (I hope this works now!)

You all have a lovely weekend.

  1. Two years ago I fell when I stepped on a cherry in a produce department. I am also a side sleeper but had to sleep in a recliner for several months. I ended up buying a wedge from medcline with a hole in it for my arm to go thru. I used it for at least a year before I could lay on my side without a lot of pain. It takes up a lot of space in the bed but boy is sleep with no pain wonderful. Nancy in Vancouver, WA

    1. That is how I've been sleeping! Finally found a smaller pillow and hopefully will not need it all anymore.

  2. Hi! I tried to watch your videos on the wild horses, but apparently the link doesn't work. :( The area you were in looks beautiful; would love to see the waterfall, but I'm in Michigan and no longer able to travel that far.

  3. Your hiking adventures are amazing. What a beautiful location! I'm a side sleeper too, and the left hip replacement surgery kept me on my back for over a month before it got comfortable to sleep on my side. I hope your cortisone shot works for you.

  4. So sorry to hear about your painful shoulder. Hopefully the shot has started working by now. Loved the beautiful pictures and videos. Stunning! That stay-behind black & white horse sure was pretty!

  5. Your backpacking took you to a stunning landscape! Imagine the eons of weather and change that created those mountains and valleys. And I imagine at night the stars are glorious.
