This cool old mill was in Brunswick, Maine. Inside was a huge antique mall!
I did see this yo-yo quilt.
Is this the side you show? I've never made one and never really thought about it.
I love the fabric (including that army green blanket color!) in this log cabin.
This was 3D with velvet clothing and lace! It was different, in a charming sort of way!
I love textiles and wish I would have purchased this patriotic little outfit.
We are on a bridge over the Androscoggin River. I think I mentioned before we didn't get off the beaten path much because of the snow.
Our view from the bridge.
I love seeing these old mills revitalized!
Downtown Dover.
Dover, Maine
I'm in Idaho mid week and I thought you'd like to see a little more of Maine. It is such a pretty state with so much history.
I hope your week is going great!
I’ve always seen yo-yo quilts with the side with the gathers and center hole facing out. They’re usually stitched down to a backing fabric, so you know how they were meant to go.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen them stitched down to a backing.
DeleteI enjoyed the glimpses of Maine sites I haven't seen before.
ReplyDeleteAnd I always enjoy seeing vintage textiles.
What are you doing in Idaho? Teaching?
Yes, the gathered side of the yo-yo is the right side. I haven't been to Brunswick in a long time. As a teen,, I used to walk across the river on that walking bridge. It used to sway and bounce. It was a little scary.
ReplyDeleteLoved your Maine pictures. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful trip! Love that patriotic outfit!
