Quilts, Friends and Community

I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to attend the International Quilt Festival several times. The quilts get me there but I'm usually so excited to see friends. Always new friends to be made as well!

I met Debbie when we volunteered for the education department in Houston. She is one of those friends you can pick up where you left off! Love her!

Here is Cecile D and her husband, Chris, from France. I knew she was coming but didn't realize she had a quilt in the show. I love that! Maybe a trip to Nantes next April for the show? Anybody game for that?

I had to introduce Laurie to Buc-ees!

The exhibit at the Texas Quilt Museum was amazing! The ladies were wonderful!
Here are the 3 Lori's/Lauries!

Texas Quilt Museum, LaGrange, Texas.

Many of you may have seen my facebook post with no story.
Laurie needed a suitcase so we went to the nearest thrift store. They weren't open because they were preparing the weekly food pantry. I loved that they had meat, dairy and vegetables- but more than that what a heart they had for their community!

Beverly showed us around the thrift store and told us how God spoke to her about her ministry. The resale store helps support Brookshire New Birth Ministries which is a Christ-centered women’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation center/half-way house. She has got a big, big heart.  We hugged, took a few photos, they prayed for our safety as we travelled and not once did we feel any division, like our media would make us feel. I mentioned it and she agreed wholeheartedly! Don't let what is going on around you dictate your feelings. Just love one another!

If you are ever in Brookshire, TX I recommend you stop and support this thrift store. (PS They found Laurie a suitcase!)

Laurie and I are making fun memories with our road trips!

Free drinks? Yes please. (Tennessee sour- never had that before)

Ann stopped me and said "I know you from online" I love that! Thanks Ann!

Cecile and I in front of her lovely quilt.

I was just listening to a podcast about healthy aging and one important key is friendships and community! I should live forever! hahaha

I will be sharing some amazing quilts in upcoming blog posts!

  1. Friendships can be hard to find, hard to maintain as the years go by. I value your online friendship and inspiration always.
Looks like a really fun time at the quilt show! The quilt you guys pose in front of w the Having a Great Time banner is so beautiful.

  2. So nice you could go again. The display of RWB quilts was amazing. I had to look extra on your Blog to find the one that was yours. Great that Cecile could enter her quilt and attend too! It's a Bucket list thing for me with Paducah. I wanna go, but the timing of the year is bad! Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.

    1. Paducah was a lot of fun and worth trying to get it in your schedule!
