My project for 2025 will be the Tree of Life quilt in red/white.
Here is some inspiration.
Here is my Electric Quilt block.
24 Half Square triangles in each block.
Projects like this that can be very boring (2 color quilts!) take some time. My thought is to make 2 blocks a month. I still haven't decided if I will use shirtings/muslin or different reds.
What I'm leaning towards is muslin and a variety of reds, but using the same red throughout the block.
If you have a tedious quilt you want to make I find breaking it up into manageable sections each month makes it so much more doable.
Anybody else? Anybody want to join in?
Happy New Year!!
will be stunning i am sure...happy new year to you!
ReplyDeleteI love the red-white-blue tree of life. So beautiful. The quilting on the two-blue-fabrics Tree of Life is stunning. I'm seriously considering joining in. I've always loved the pattern.
ReplyDeleteHard to do, beautiful result. Did you count the total HSTs or too discouraging? I know better than to jump in but oh, I wish!
ReplyDeleteI'm very tempted to join in!
ReplyDeleteI have a length of red and length of white, and have looked and looked, unable to decide. I do like the trees, it will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis will be beautiful. I am hoping to do a two color quilt this year too.
ReplyDeleteI think you have found the right approach. I don't use solids too often but am a sucker for red and white quilts. All of your samples are tempting....
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for red and white too!
DeleteI am considering this but with scraps. I like your approach of only 24 HST's per block. It's all in the mindset. Right?
ReplyDeleteI don't have the discipline to join in but will really love watching your progress. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBe sure your reds are colorfast first. Ask me how I know!! Two color quilts are great.
ReplyDeleteI"ve had that problem even when I thought they were all washed and colorfast!
DeleteOh, I may have to join you on this one! This has been a bucket list quilt for a long time!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt to set as a goal for the new year! Wishing you a creative, happy and healthy 2025!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh, isn't that marvelous? I am so fond of red and white quilts, and this one is gorgeous! I'd love to join this one.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a red and white quilt but I've had so much trouble with reds running even with quality fabrics and pre-washing. I've heard that it might have something to do with the type of water in your area. Mine is very hard water. And I always do use color catchers too. I'll have to think about it....
ReplyDeleteI went from sewing small bags to larger bags and clothing (for myself) to patchwork and quilting and I think that's where you stay - right? What possibilities. I finished my first large quilt in December 2024. Two more were waiting for me to bind.
ReplyDeleteI really like your project because I think the pattern is great - even if it is complex. By the end I will have perfected it.
Do you give any help or do you have to know the pattern already?
I would like to take part. If I manage it :-)) I would like to make a large blanket. How much fabric do you think I should buy in both colors? Do you offer any support?
I am happy to have found your blog.
All the best to you and your loved ones for the new year. May many of your wishes come true.
Hug Viola
Yes, I'll be giving help and a pattern if someone needs it! I'll be posting Wednesday!
DeleteThis is so interesting to me. Just today my Accuquilt Block-on-Board for the Tree of Life block arrived! Still, I am struggling to get a bunch of UFOs out of closets and cupboards and get them finished. So I may join you in doing two blocks a month for one of my UFOs, but I doubt I will start the Tree of Life quilt this year--I just had to nab the BOB when it was at a great clearance price!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I actually prefer blue and white quilts, so I may just work on my schoolhouse block quilt UFO, which is a two color blue and white. So I will work with you, but not on the same quilt. LOL
Whichever you choose, it will be stunning!
ReplyDeleteThis will be beautiful. It's such a good idea to break it down and do a little over time. A two color quilt is crisp and classic!
ReplyDeleteAlas, I have leaped ahead of you- I made all the blocks for a tree of life last year. They are multi colored; I have blocks for every season and extras (like a tree with cherry leaves). They sit in a pile waiting to become a top. i could use your monthly prompts to remind me to put it together! Hmm....
