I'm calling it Summit Stitches. You know how I got to the summit of Mt St Helens? One step at a time! We will take the sewalong slow and steady just like that hike. (I'm still in a bit of recovery mode!)
This photo is so you can see what fabric the original has
How sweet is this?
Does anybody else have 1 1/2" strips or squares? I'll hunt through this bag first. That is the size we will use.
Normally I have my quilt made ahead of the quiltalong, but this year I'm making it with you, although I own the vintage little quilt.
Our little quilt, when completed, will measure approx 25" square.
You may even have little 4 patches made and tucked away in your sewing room. This is how we are going to start. Let's make some 4 patches!
You can use light/dark like the 2 above but you can also use mediums as well. I think mixing it up adds interest. We are not going to be in a hurry, but we are making 320 of them! Don't let that scare you off.
Press toward the dark, spin the seams if you want. Your 4 patches should measure 2 1/2".
Let me know if you are sewing along.
Oh fun. I have a bin of fabrics that just might be a good match for this project.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get my sewing mojo back maybe this will get me going
ReplyDeleteI love 1 1/2 inch squares! But are you saying that we will need 625?
ReplyDelete80 four patches is only 320....but who is counting!? lol
DeleteI'd like to join, however life might get in the way! Are we "meeting" on a certain day? When will this stichalong last?
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm flying by the seat of my pants this year! I'm going to Houston next week, then Portugal mid month.
DeleteSounds like your schedule will coincide with mine. I'll be out of town for a week coming up so count me in. Last year's QAL was one of my all-time favorites! ❤️
DeleteI am keen to do this.
ReplyDeleteI am going to participate and already have so many small squares cut. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI’m in! How fun will this be :-)
ReplyDeleteMe apunto, ire despacio, pero llegare
ReplyDeleteOK. I'm in. Four patches are my favorite and for some reason have purchased many browns throughout the years. Just returned from a little leaf-viewing to see a truck hauling three open trailers with the biggest cardboard boxes I have ever seen. Full of---pumpkins. Great viewing for an autumnal day. How on earth can pumpkins stay put at 83 mph????
ReplyDeleteToo fun, I love these little stitch alongs Lori :0) Thanks....so much fabric so little time :0)
ReplyDeleteI'm in! Excited to get started!
ReplyDeleteI'm in. I have a bin of 4-patches this size. I just sorted them and have enough in blue scraps with just a few blacks thrown in for fun. I've been sewing them for leader/enders for a while until another leader/ender took over. Ready to roll!
ReplyDeleteI am in need to clean up some of my fabric ty for this cute sew along Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI think I can squeeze this in. We will see!
ReplyDeleteThinking I might do this, but it will be slow as I believe I'll make it EPP style. Thinking I might do it in browns and pinks?
ReplyDeleteI'm in !! Thank you dear friend !!
ReplyDeleteI'm in -- it's time for me to revisit my repro stash.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! I'm in!!!
ReplyDeleteI love those vintage fabrics! I have a lot on my plate right now so joining is out of the question. I will be making some flannel four patches out of leftovers from the flannel quilts I am making for someone I work with. Have a great time in Houston.
ReplyDeleteA méditer ... c'est tentant 🪡🧵😉
ReplyDeleteI think you should join in!
DeleteI certainly hope to beable to follow along. I love Scrappy!
ReplyDeleteI’m going to try this! I have 42 done, so I’d better get sewing!
ReplyDeleteYes! I think I'll join. I already have tons of strips that might work - or I can trim them to size. I love small mats to use on top of tables or counters.
