I wanted to share this lovely tumbling blocks quilt top! The pieces are quite large but I love that you get a good look at the fabrics!!
mmmm, any thoughts what this would be?
My favorite is the newsie! Anybody see that musical movie? It was a favorite of ours when the kids were growing up! They even went out at Halloween once as newsies!
The colors are vibrant and it is expertly hand stitched! I think I found the perfect home for it!!
Let's have an amazing week!
Awesome prints in there. Glad you found a home for it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, dynamic fabrics, and I love the way the quilter pieced her smaller fabrics to make some of the patches. The one you asked about looks oriental to me, possibly a stylized wing?
ReplyDeleteSeeing this reminds me that I have not worked on my Tumbling Blocks in a number of years! However, I did just was 3 new fabrics that I could use in it, from Blue Bird designs! My diamonds are cut from 2 1/2" strips of fabric, and a LOT of different ones as well! Now I want to find it and remember how many diamonds to get from them fabric strips.
ReplyDeleteLove this so much. I’ve had it in my head to make a Tumbling Block quilt for years! I’m thinking I’d use a template 3” or 4” a side. It this about that size? It’s beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMona
Tip to tip they measure about 5"! Much larger than most tumbling blocks, but it doesn't look clunky at all!
DeleteGorgeous quilt! Love looking at the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteAfter looking closely at the wonderful fabric choices, I googled Leah Deah's tutorial showing how to avoid the dreaded Y seam. Am so tempted to give this a try with large cubes, Tho I am not sure about having a seam in a printed fabric in the top rhombus. If a solid fabric it wouldn't show as much but the beauty in this quilt is the wonderful prints and having a seam????
ReplyDeleteAn all time favorite pattern of mine :0) Thanks for the close up look at the masterful workmanship ! What a treasure! Happy Sewing Lori :0)
ReplyDeleteReally fun to zoom in on those fabrics! The one you asked about made me think of a fish fin.
ReplyDeleteYES! It certainly could be that!!
