Whatnot Wednesday

I don't have anything quilty to show you today so I thought I'd show you a silly collection I have.
It started innocently with this guy who used to be my moms.
The collection has expanded a bit. My recent favorite is the marionette on the right which my sister brought back from Italy.
Here's a bit more. I noticed after I downloaded the photos that I need to dust! Oops! maybe I'll hire my niece when she is home on spring break to come and help. Cleaning is always more fun when your not doing it by yourself.

Randy of Barrister's Block and I are working on a project together for our blogs!! We will do a medallion sewalong and  I hope you'll join in on the fun when we are ready.

Marian of Dream Weaver bought one of my little AAQI quilts recently and I emailed her a photo of my grandfather to go along with it. I hope you'll check it out.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

  1. What a fun collection, Lori. How can you not smile every time you look at it? My secret collection is Russian Matreshka dolls. It, too, started innocently enough with a gift from someone who had traveled there. I have dozens now. I rarely buy anymore, feeling things got out of control--I've even given some away. But if I see a nice one in a thrift store at a really good price, I'll cave. I only buy the ones from the former Soviet Block countries--no cheap imitations. : )
    Marian's post was very nice!

  2. If it was me I would have said, "cleaning is always more fun when you're not doing it PERIOD!" I hate to clean; to dust, to vacuum, to wash windows and scrub tubs. OHHHHHHHHHHH! I wish I had a maid :( Love your collection of Pinocchios, and I'm looking forward to seeing what plans you and Randy have for us.

  7. What a darling collection. Yes, the dusting deal definitely goes by faster and better with 2 or more. Can't wait to see your Medallian QAL, can't say I'll commit, but it might jumpstart some ideas for my Gwen workshop in June.

  9. I was going to ask you what a "swagalong" is but then realized it is a sewalong. LOL!

I think you have a unique collection. I do not know anyone else who collects Pinnochio items. And you would find similar dust around my glass collection. I am trying to get that taken care of before company arrives next week.

  10. What a wonderful collection. Don't you know that dust is a protective covering? It is important to let it be. ;)
I can hardly wait to see what you and Randy are cooking up.

  12. That is such a great picture of your grandfather! I am looking forward to the sewalong - a medalion quilt will be something different. So long as you don't let dust settle on your sewing things :0)

  16. Interesting collectible and to have it start with one special piece...I suppose that's how they start. Lol. I was glad to see the dust as its a sign of a busy quilter! Hugs!

  22. Lori, you're the first person I've come across who collects Pinochio items and it's fun to see all the items you've amassed. Have always loved that story of the puppet who becomes a real boy.
