Wow! Here it is February already!! I have so many fun events planned for 2016 that it's hard to not rush!
We have hired a new employee and that is a good thing. I hope he learns fast and works well into our small business.
I got some ideas from my Facebook group. (which now has 700+ members! I'm humbled for sure!)
I'm not a fan of poly stuffing. This is what I used.
I'm working on lots of binding which makes for a boring blog post. Here is my completed High Desert Baskets, where my creative photo skills flopped!
That's better. The binding is not the same print. Remember when I made the binding ahead of time? My quilts were at the quilters and I didn't look to see what the outer triangle prints were. Just one more step in my humble quilt philosophy.
One more binding. I love this binding with this quilt!! I'll show you the completed quilt later this week.
One more binding attached, still to be hand sewn.
Have a wonderful week!
What a sweet gift. I'm sure she will cherish it. Great work on the bindings. Most of my friends hate the binding process, but I find it quite relaxing.
ReplyDeleteSuch a thoughtful gift. Love quilts set on point. Thank goodness my Mother enjoys sewing the bindings
ReplyDeleteThe pillow turned out so sweet and I'm sure the recipient will treasure it. As for your bindings, GREAT JOB! I love that the binding is close but not the exact same fabric as the outer triangles on your High Desert Baskets quilt. All three quilts are going to be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHooray for a new employee! And the heart is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHigh Desert Baskets just takes my breath away - fabulous finish! The heart pillow is such a sweet thoughtful remembrance for your friend.
ReplyDeleteI love the binding being slightly different than the outer triangles! Looks like it was planned that way. And thanks for the idea of something to get a grieving friend. Cute button flower too! You are full of ideas for me...Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's never BORING at Humble Quilts! Binding is my Favorite part of the Quilt. I love the Heart pillow.
ReplyDeleteIt's huggable.
I had not seen the freebie heart design. Just printed it out. Your gift made from this design is so very thoughtful. I need to order white wool before I can make it unless I find a scrap (and that is possible).
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to get the binding on!! I love the heart pillow.
ReplyDeleteI am very touched by the gift pillow you made. So thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteOh, the basket quilt is superb!! Doesn't it make you smile?
What a kind thoughtful gift, perfect remembrance. I enjoy hand sewing binding-kind of like applique for me :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiul gift Lori!! I really like your High Desert basket quilt - pretty applique and the feathered wreaths are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSweet little heart for a thoughtful gift!
ReplyDeleteI love the red-multi print you're using for the last binding; it's one of my favorites, and I wish I had yards and yards of it instead of just yards. I've got lots of binding in my near future too.
I think we shared that red fabric you used for binding the last quilt--remember when you got some amazing deals on fabric at a warehouse sale a few years ago?? I am still using the fabrics and recently used the red as well! Can't wait to see what you're hiding!!
ReplyDeleteI love that last binding fabric. It's so amazing. Also, the setting triangle fabric on the one I quilted, very nice. I need to step out when it comes to my shifting prints and get a few of these darker ones, they really helped pop the colors on your quilt. Sweet pillow
ReplyDeleteI dont think binding is boring, I love it! I love knowing you are nearly finished another quilt. I love being able to hand stitch and still interact with the family - its my version of knitting I can do it without thinking. And best of all while I am hand stitching binding I can dream about the next quilt I want to make!
ReplyDeleteYay on the new employee! Sweet pillow for a precious gift. Love the button flowers! I had no idea there was cotton stuffing like that! Much better than the poly stuff. Binding is the best part of quilting, means a finished quilt is near!
ReplyDeleteI love your High Desert Basket quilt! I like the baskets, the appliqué and the nice mix of fabrics. It is beautiful! I also love you heart pillow and am sure the recipient will treasure it. It is very thoughtful of you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, all your bindings look great! I like the fabrics and contrast with the quilts... For as much as we can see!
You've been busy with your binding, love the print on the yellow one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a love gift to bestow on your friend. She is lucky to know you.
Love the binding stage. That when the quilt is so close to completion and of course I love the meditative hand stitching :)
ReplyDeleteYour heart pillow is such a lovely and thoughtful gift. All your finishes are looking fantastic. What a way to start the New Year?
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet gift pillow - she'll love it.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear what you have going on this year. Vermont? I'm going.
i like matching binding sometime - looks great to me
Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteHigh Desert Baskets is beautiful! I wish I could make one like your! I like the binding, too.
Also I love the small heart pillow, I'm sure your friend will love it.
Hugs, Rina.
Boring is a word I'd never use to describe any of your projects and sewing, Lori.
ReplyDeleteYou've been on a binding binge! Your High Desert Baskets quilts is outstanding. Love seeing the two groups of blocks joined together with all those shirtings.
The heart pillow will certainly bring comfort.
The wool heart pillow is very sweet and so thoughtful of you! Your quilts are wonderful. I always wonder how you get so much done.
