I've been a fan of all things French General and was was happy to be able to take a class from her in Houston. She talked about her new hoop based on an antique one.
When I ordered it I got these wonderful scraps too!
I read about a French general challenge on Instagram and made this block for it. I think I'm eliminated quick cause it said use up to 4 fabrics. It's a fun wintery block and maybe I'll use it as a center for a small holiday quilt. Read more about the hoop and challenge HERE.
And I'm only stitching on this between projects, so it'll be a slow one.
There is something pretty magical about it.
And Randy was having a giveaway.
Instead of choosing a "winner" we were all winners- more French General scraps!!
Thank you Randy!
Have a wonderful week!
I need to look at that hoop. I also love French General fabrics. Off to look up that challenge.
ReplyDeleteThe French General fabric is lovely.....very much a design that I could invest in. The log cabins are intriguing using the 2 fabrics all the way out on each side. Great eye candy in the post.
ReplyDeleteDon't know what it is about FG, but I'm drawn to it, too. Love your little block.
ReplyDeleteI love French General fabrics and plan on adding to my stash with some soon.
ReplyDeleteLove French General! Your embroidery is lovely!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful block!
ReplyDeleteI love French General and am very curious now about that hoop.
Her embroidery panels are really lovely - you are off to a fabulous start on yours.
So pretty! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous block and embroidery project!!
ReplyDeleteFrench General!! Oh my gosh - some of the prettiest fabric on the market! I'm working a quilt right now with mostly Pom Pom de Paris, and an odd bit of Lumiere de Noel and Rouenneries thrown in for good measure. Lovely embroidery!
ReplyDeleteYour block is beautiful and Randy a sweetheart !
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day ! :)
I have some of that first fabric you showed - in a neutral. Thought it would be so fun to fussy cut those little medallions and use them somewhere strategic in a quilt. I'm still working on that! LOL
ReplyDeletePretty fabrics! I love the soft red/ taupe/ chocolate colorway of the last grouping. Interesting hoop too.
ReplyDeleteI think your block is gorgeous! I love the embroidery too - very much :0)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your block! I think it came out great. So glad you got the scraps. Hope you have fun with them.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty block!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think that stitchery will be beautiful!!
I really like the block. Your embroidery is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous block, Lori. It would be fun to have it included in the 30 they choose!
ReplyDeleteLove FG too and have quite a bit of it and also think your block is very pretty. I am wondering where you got the embroidery piece. I would love to do a piece like that a little bit at a time in between my quilting. I think it would be a nice change and have something very pretty in the end.

ReplyDeleteI put the link in the blog today for French General. You can find it under the heading embroidery on her site along with many other lovely pieces.
DeleteI am enchanted! I don't think that my local shop carries French General -- I've never seen it before. Oh my, I must get some. Love your block.
ReplyDeleteReally love the block you designed. Love French General but haven't used any yet. I've been dreaming of a red and white quilt. Maybe French General?
ReplyDeleteI've been a long time fan and I keep going back to these. They are really special! What a gorgeous hoop!
ReplyDeleteCan't figure out: Does the embroidery piece come with the hoop?
ReplyDeleteI'm also a big fan of French General fabrics. I love the block you made for the challenge ( who cares about rules?) and that embroidery looks gorgeous - don't tempt me!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous block, Lori, congratulations ! And oh, how I love that stitchery ! Is there a pattern I can buy for it ?? THANKS for the inspiration :))
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
