Fabric: 1775-1910 is a wide span of time but that is what we are looking for. Look HERE if you are unsure what reproduction fabric is.
We are not using 1920's-Current
Not primitive style, like Jan Patek, or cutesy like some of Primitive Gatherings or Joined at the Hip. (which I love, just not for this swap)
We want the quilt to look like it time traveled from days past.
24" x 24" or smaller. (It doesn't have to be square), Civil War reproductions, a label, with a deadline of mailing by April 30th.
If you cannot mail international for financial reasons please let me know. You do not have to leave that info in the comments, you can email me. In previous years I let you not mail international for any reason, but I'm changing that. It is the same people willing to send international doing it over and over. If you just don't want to send overseas because going to the post office is a hassle, then please join another swap.
If you are interested please send me your full name, mailing address and if you cannot send international to ldej@crestviewcable.com
Even if you were in a past swap, please send me the pertinent info. I'll take signups through Monday, March 25, 2019- Midnight PST
(Or until I reach a total of 70 swappers- it won't take long!)
I will send you your swap partner soon after.
If I do not know you, if you have never commented on my blog or we've never emailed than I may not allow you to join. Don't take it personal.
It isn't a race (although there is a deadline) there is no reason to rush and do a crappy job. This type of workmanship is not acceptable. It doesn't have to be perfect. So many of my points do not match, but I do know how to attach a binding and basic quilt construction. Have fun and enjoy the process!
Need some inspiration?
I'm not entering the swap, but thoroughly enjoyed the mini quilt show this morning. I clicked on all the previous swap pictures.... what fun this must be! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo ! I'm in of course !! Thank you Lori !
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I am certainly in! This sounds like so very much fun. Haven’t hand quilted for years... but this might be the perfect time to do so.
ReplyDeleteJan, You are a no-reply commenter, so I have no mailing address or even an email.
DeleteLooking forward to this! What to do? I am excited to play in my fabric and come up with something fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lori! This is a wonderful swap!
ReplyDeleteI'm just a girl who can't say no! I'd love to participate again this year. I have such wonderful quilts from super quilters. Thanks for hosting another year!

ReplyDeleteYes. I loved my quilts from France and the UK.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I tease myself that I will join in the next year, but I know deadlines are not a good thing for me, so I watch from the sidelines and enjoy the show. You make a lot of people very happy doing this Lori.
ReplyDeleteCount me in again this year. Emailing you in a minute.
ReplyDeleteOhh YAY i love your doll quilt swaps Lori... looking forward to joining in again this year :)) hugs, Marian in Aust
ReplyDeleteHi Lori. I would love to join your doll quilt swap. I have a terrific stash of reproduction fabrics from the very site you listed. I have been quilting for about 15 years and have made several doll quilts for my nieces and granddaughters. I guarantee I would honor your request for excellence in workmanship. My email address is 415zebra@comcast.net . Thank you for a wonderful blog. Not only do I love the quilting info but I am inspired by your hiking. Best wishes, Maria
ReplyDeleteNew to your blog and very excited about the doll quilt swap.
ReplyDeleteI decided not to participate this year because I need to stop joining so many things. I did take the time to re-admire some of the doll quilts that I received in past years though. What treasures they are!!
ReplyDeleteQuestion! What is the normal time when we are supposed to send our quilts. Is it any time before April 30 or do we generally wait 'til closer to that date?
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and looking through the previous swaps is inspiring! I just started 3 reproduction quilts and while I do not (yet) have a large repro stash, I am looking forward to making them. I will follow along and hope to get into next year's swap!
