Apple Brown Betty

Here is a little quilt I made for a swap. It was on Cheri Payne's blog and this was a swap using one of her designs or patterns. It is called Apple Brown Betty and my partner's name was Betty so I thought it was fitting.
This color is a bit more accurate. I had some cute little blocks already made so I used them

  Definitely primitive!! lol

Here was Cheri's little quilt.
I don't think my partner was too thrilled with it. She may have been expecting something more pictorial. I asked some friends if I should applique a basket or something like that on it and they agreed it was great as-is.

And for fun, my daughter's cat, Waschbar.

I hope you are having an amazing week!

  1. That’s one of the best cat names I’ve heard in a while! Had to look up what it meant—lol!
When I saw just the photo of your little quilt I thought it might be a new sew along and I was already on board! I like yours even better than Cheri’s—love the plaid background and 9 patches you added!

  2. I have always liked the name Apple Brown Betty but don't really know what kind of dessert it is other than it must have apples in it. I think you chose a good pattern to match your swap partner's name. It has been interesting seeing all the swap quilts that were made. Quite a variety.

  3. I love it. The fact that you used 9-patches and stars makes it even more interesting. And of course the colors/fabrics... right up my alley! I've only participated in a couple of swaps, and as far as I could tell one of the recipients liked my quilt, but not so sure about the other one. I guess that's the chance you take, but how disappointing to think your quilt might not be loved.

  5. I like the primitive one. I like the other one too but not as much. However, I wouldn't complain to receive either one of them!

  9. I can't imagine not loving one of your quilts! This is a wonderful mini. Too bad for your partner, this is why I am trying not to do swaps anymore. [tho I have ONLY ever rec'd beautiful quilts in swaps, that I treasure.]

  15. It's a great little quilt, so charmingly primitive, and with a sweet (ha ha), fitting, name. Swaps are tricky. But, I think it's terrific!

  17. Beautiful little quilt, and fabrics used. I love how relaxed Waschbar is, just laying around being a lazy cat......
