It's been awhile since I've had a giveaway and I am ready to pass these two magazines (which seem like books!) along. I'll draw one name from the blog and one name from the facebook group. Feel free to comment both places for a better chance to win.
This is the Michigan issue, including Gwen Marston, before she passed away. I've never spent any time in Michigan but after reading this issue I'd like to go!
This is an older Australian magazine chock full of lovely projects.
And look what came in the mail yesterday!

ReplyDeleteVery cute dresses- some people are wonderfully original! I’m loving those circles on the cover of that book. I’m very attracted to circles lately....maybe I like the challenge?
ReplyDeleteSweet little dresses. Somehow those neon prints made up into stars make me think of a wildly swirling aurora borealis on a subzero night. Fun!
ReplyDeleteSpring...to be able to sit outside and enjoy some great hand stitching. Its beginning to have the smell of blossoms in the air.
ReplyDeleteThose magazines look good, especially the quilt on the cover of the 2nd magazine. Nice photos of the dresses.
ReplyDeleteSo so looking forward to spring and the promise of some warm sunshine!

ReplyDeleteThe dresses are adorable AND practical! How fabulous! Love seeing Mt. Adams in the distance. We spent 5 years in Denver and I still love thinking about the beautiful mountains and viewing them in the distance. Foothills make my heart go pitter-patter!

ReplyDeleteLovely magazines for the giveaway...We have intermittent sun here today but our breezes
are still pretty frigid...need a Winter coat for walks...still.......hugs, Julierose

ReplyDeleteI have never seen the little dresses from men's shirts like these. Where would I find some sort of pattern or tutorial for sizes and such. Thanks for any help. I am searching for a charity project for my 4-H sewing club.
ReplyDeleteI have no clue other than a google search.
DeleteThose dresses are adorable and will make some little girls very happy!
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for the fun posting and your sharing!
ReplyDeleteI just watched a tutorial about how to make a dress out of a man's shirt. It's a fabulous idea. I haven't tried it yet. What a beautiful landscape. Those of us with cabin fever could use some wide open spaces for a much needed change of scenery. Seeing your photo of scenery helps.
ReplyDeleteThose dresses are brilliant.

Our group is currently contributing pillowcases for active duty military and Veterans. Oregon State Grange is participating and it is Sponsored by Gail Wilson of our own White Eagle Grange #683 just outside Pilot Rock in Eastern Oregon. A little piece of handmade love, they will go to the Klamath Falls area. They will be presented from makers statewide at the State Grange Session in June in K Falls. :) <3
Love the art quilts I've seen from Australia. Quilters are awesome worldwide, no matter what continent they are on.
Great blog post Lori, thanks for all you share! <3
I don’t have either book. I went to Mackinac Island, Michigan, on family vacations when I was young. Would have loved Gwen’s retreats. 💕. Those little dresses are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love the little dresses. For some reason none of your pictures were showing until I clicked on each one. This hasn't happened before. Did you do anything different? I'm including my e-mail address in case I didn't do what you suggested to make it show: sharon.rub@alumni.ucla.edu
ReplyDeleteDidn't do anything different with the photos..hmmmm.

I'd love to win the MI magazine--grew up in the UP, and go back whenever I can. While we lived in the Philippines as missionaries for 10 years, I ordered one of Gwen Marston's books, and she autographed it for me. Thanks for the opportunity--I've followed your blog for years.
ReplyDeleteRuth
Lori, thanks so much for this opportunity. Wonderful give-away. Enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteThe dresses from Men's shirts are adorable! What a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the neons I was pretty certain they had to have come from Wendy. Seeing her comment at the top of the list, I see I was right. (Though it wasn't a hard guess at all.) They are stunning and are perfect for stars.
It is cloudy and windy here, with snow still blanketing the ground. Your beautiful views give me hope. :)
I think this looks like some great reading. I love cutting up shirts for quilts.
ReplyDeleteCute dress idea. The magazines look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win. I always seem to enjoy the Australian quilt making magazines when I can find them. I would also find it interesting to see the other magazine as well.
ReplyDeleteThe dresses are adorable. Ill look for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteAdorables ces petites robes. On aurait envie de les porter. J'aime toujours autant vos photos, moi qui ne suis jamais allée aux États Unis... Merci, bon dimanche

The shirt dresses are great! No hemming
ReplyDeleteThe magazines are wonderful and you would like hiking in areas of Michigan. Some very beautiful areas...during the summer or fall. Winters can be mean.
ReplyDeleteYour hike must have been wonderful & good for Elsa too. I loved the view of Mt. Adams. I lived near the Hwy 2 pass & just love the Cascades. I need to look back on your dresses post, as I'd like to make some this year. My health issues have gotten in the way before. The dresses posted are so well done! And another good reason to cut up my stash of shirts. Please post when your next trip happens so we all know.
ReplyDeletecutest little dresses! And the range photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win a couple of magazines. Also, love your photos of Central Oregon, makes me eager for my annual, weeklong trip to Sisters. Dawn D. (ddswimmer@yahoo.com)
ReplyDeleteThe dresses are darling. You have the most amazing views in Washington. I live in the flatlands of Indiana so to see any mountain is a joy. Thank you for the chance to win a magazine. They both look very interesting. A friend of mine use to go to the island where Gwen Marsten lived and take quilt classes from her.
