Sparkling Star

Last week I string pieced some diamonds to test a block for the String Class I taught online on Saturday.  I'll interject here, I had a really fun time and I think the participants did too.
So, when class was over I finished this star. I'm going to lose a few outside points but I can live with that.
I'm considering making this the center of a medallion quilt.
I forgot how fiddly it was to assemble a LeMoyne star!
The dogs are usually in the living room, but because I was set up in the kitchen, they wanted to be nearby. I accommodated them!!

On another note, I thought the Zoom workshop went very well. I'd love to know if you've done a class, what you liked, what you didn't like. Would you be interested in taking a class with me? What subject matter would you like to learn? It was mentioned maybe a machine applique class. Would that interest you?

I'm going to make it a great week, how about you?
Much love

  5. The solids make a striking star.
I have no experience with Zoom and wonder how a class can be successful. One thing you could explain in a post is what is necessary to actually use Zoom.

  6. I love your String Star--how about a Zoom class on making that? For some reason, I have always been reluctant to try it.

I taught a beginners' class on hand applique about two months ago on Zoom, and I was a bit worried beforehand that it wouldn't work. But it didn't turn out as hard to demonstrate on camera as I thought it would, and everyone caught on nicely!

  7. Pretty star. My guild did a mini Zoom class to make a scissor fob. I liked it and it was good. The only thing you really have to remember, as the instructor, is to give ample time between the steps for the students to get that step done. Also use the spotlight mode as too many folks don't know how to "mute" themselves. Even an "ooooh!" causes the screen to go to them so whatever you are showing is gone until you speak again. We quilters love to "ooooh!" and "ahhhh!", don't you know? Lol!!
