Cousins Walk Bird Sampler

Looking forward to getting this center laid out and sewn together! I'm laying them out so I can see them all easily. The antique is set in a fun and folksy way.
It is likely I'll go with the antique setting.
Here's a shy bird that I had been trying to get a photo of the entire week while in Hawaii. There was 2 of them hanging around together, but cropped this up close to see him/her better. It is called a saffron finch.
Here's a stock photo. So pretty!

And, why did the chickens cross the road???? LOL

Susanne sent me these wonderful buttons from Germany! She was my swap partner and sent them as a thank you. Thank you Susanne!

The ones on the left are made from thread and all handmade! So precious! They are all antique!
I love them and will add them to a project I will treasure!!!

It has been a difficult week. Covid is definitely hitting our community and it's hard to see family's hurting. Our county has not made it easy to get the covid vaccine either and that is frustrating.

Well, I'm hoping to get my sewing room cleaned up this weekend and Bernina Record hooked up and sewing soon!

Much love to you all.

  1. Love your bird blocks, very lovely. I'm sorry your community is still experiencing covid and problems getting the vaccine! Northern Indiana is pretty well normal again, I just assumed other places had covid under control too. Stay safe and keep that mask on! Happy stitching!

  2. Sorry you are still doing COVID. Our Michigan numbers are finally coming down. My sister raises chickens and says they cross the road "because they are stupid!!"

  3. Your bird blocks are so pretty, and however you set them together will be amazing. I'm sorry to hear your area has made it difficult to get the vaccine. Our numbers had dropped dramatically in this part of SD, and at least in our county the vaccination numbers are very high.

  6. So sorry to hear your community is hit hard by covid. Hopefully you will all get vaccinated soon. I was more than exited to get my first shot in.

  7. Sorry to hear about your local COVID issues. Things here in Texas have eased so much that my guild meeting this week was well attended without a mask in sight. Don't know if you're in a rural area but we had to venture into the metro area to get our shots. It was very well organized so we just found another in-the-city reason to make the trips even more mileage-worthy.

  13. Your birds are so delightful all together. I saw a quilt in an old old quilt book last week and I can't stop thinking about it. It has birds in the border. You always have great ideas and once again have prompted me to look at something I would have just skipped over. We went to church yesterday with a full congregation and no masks or distancing. But, I am reminded this pandemic is not really over. I hope things get better in your area soon.
