I found an extra one of these panels

4th of July traditions include a memorial race in town.  This photo is the cleaned up version! LOL

And let's remember why we celebrate.

America and its founders made mistakes and had issues, (haven't we all?) but they were independent, strong, hardy individuals that laid the foundation of the United States of America.
I am happy to live here.

To be eligible please tell me why you are happy or proud to be an American.

Love ya!

  4. So happy & thankful to be born in this country & also thankful for those who have sacrificed so much for our way of life. We have opportunities & freedom that so many are deprived of in other parts of the world! I can still get goosebumps when hearing the National Anthem🇺🇸!

  5. Because of the equal rights we aspire for everyone to have. It is a work in progress, but more than many have.

  7. I feel lucky to be born in the USA. My grandmother was an immigrant along with her whole family fleeing Germany. Our country has not always been perfect and the current divisiveness troubles me, but I believe we are trying hard to tackle our problems.

  8. I love America for so many reasons! I think of the Bill of Rights and all of the freedom and liberty we are guaranteed. The foundations of this country set up a framework for constant improvement without penalty! Never has that been allowed anywhere throughout history. We have overcome mistakes and sought out a “more perfect union”!

  9. Love the big panel. I am proud to be an American. I love the traditions, stories, and history, flaws and all, of our country. My ancestors came here and settled, fought in the Revolution and Civil War, WW 2 and other conflicts that threatened our freedom. I love seeing the Flag wave on patriotic holidays. The current negativity and disavowal of our traditions and heritage sadden me greatly; sometimes the loudest voices are not entirely in the right. God bless America.
Your Freedom quilt is wonderful, love how it came out.

  11. What treasures you found!
I am so grateful to be an American--to have rights and freedoms, but also responsibilities to help where needed--to be an example to other nations of how the blessed reach out and help lift others in difficult circumstances and times, and stand against the oppressor to aid the oppressed.
I, too, had ancestors on the Mayflower, and ancestors who fought in the wars that helped us achieve our freedoms. I am thankful for the sacrifices made and don't want to take my freedom for granted!

  12. We are very fortunate to live in this great country. My grandfather came over from Germany when he was 2. I can't imagine what it is like in this day and age to to live in so many of the countries who are living in such turmoil right now. I pray daily that we will continue to live in as much harmony as possible with the negativity that we have here right now. God bless our soldiers who have fought so hard to keep peace. God Bless America in all her beauty.

  27. I truly believe we live in the greatest country in the world. My grandparents came through Ellis Island for the opportunity to better their way of life. They were proud to be Americans!! It always put me in aw when someone needed help and the entire community would respond. I hold it dear to my heart . God bless America!!

  28. Both of my parents are first generation Americans. They never took this freedom for granted. We truly do live in the greatest country in the world, as so many others are under oppression rule. I thank God for the freedoms that our fore fathers fought for. And all the veterans that help to keep us free!

  29. My ancestors arrived on the Mayflower, others around 1915 from Poland, and the Irish side a couple generations earlier. They all came to escape the conditions in their homelands, in some cases as teenagers knowing they would likely never see their families again, but with faith that they would find freedom and a better life here. I am indebted to them and all those who sacrificed to give all of us the lives we enjoy and all too often take for granted.

  30. Personally I am Sioux and Apache with the German and Irish folks that migrated here over time. I am proud to be mostly orginal in my mind at least lol. I am proud my ancestors helped the pilgrims when they arrived. All my lineage has had trouble with drinking and so I have not participated much in that arena. Pride is in my lineage and so being of this wonderful fruitful country it pains me to see how it is treated. Thanks for being so sharing. am glad to follow you.

  31. I’m profundity to be a citizen of the USA for the freedom and safety it affords. So many war torn, third world or communist countries do not provide safety, the right to practice ones religion or opportunities for improving ones life. We are not a perfect government because we, as people are not perfect, but we have strength and resilience.

  32. From a little girl until now a senior citizen, the flag waving in the breeze, the Star Spangled Banner, America The Beautiful, God Bless America, songs and symbols that give me goose bumps and make me stand up tall. I have visited many other countries over the years, and none compare to our country. I am so happy to live in America. It puzzles me that those who live in America and criticize it so much don’t leave and move to a country where the laws and constitution suit them better. Judy Hansen (Grandmajudyhansen@gmail.com)

  33. My maternal grandfather immigrated from France as a small child. When he married my grandmother, she lost her citizenship. They both took classes (he couldn't read or write) to get their citizenship. Seeing the pride and amazing effort that it took to accomplish this, I was always very proud of this country. My father and oldest brother fought in WW2 and Viet Nam to protect these rights. To have this history as part of your being, you are aware of belonging to a country worthy of our devotion.

  34. Yes, we have had our ups and downs, but in the end we are all proud to be in the land of the free!

  35. I love how America welcomed my German grandfather to this country in 1910. I'm proud that my father and husband served in the military to preserve the freedoms afforded to us. As we continue to grow as a nation, we should all be grateful for what we have and what we are working towards. Let freedom ring!

  36. I am so thankful for the freedom we have to assemble and worship together. That is the reason my ancestors came to this country and I don't take that for granted! We are a blessed people! Happy 4th of July!

  37. In spite of some things happening the last years, (20-30 years, not just 4-5 years), I'm still glad to be in the US. For all the problems our country does have, our freedoms give us a great opportunity to fix those problems, rather than the only option being to leave for a hopefully better place.

The George Washington panels are nice, but the Old Glory one is really eye catching and a great start for a medallion quilt.

  38. Our founding fathers and early settlers sacrificed so much to find independence and freedom by coming to this new land! I believe we are very blessed for the sacrifices they made for us by remembering them with the respect they deserve! Even though we’ve been going through so much hardship, I still believe in Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness!
These panels are sew beautiful, Lori! Thank you for this very generous giveaway!

  41. I love my country. I love being an American. I have humble roots - German and Hungarian on one side, German, Indian, Irish slave on the other. Every part of me is a proud American making a better life with freedom and opportunity. I might have been born in the city projects neighborhood but now I own my own home and give back by fostering children and rescuing animals. God directs me to share and most of all to love.

  43. i fell in love with your country in 1972 at the age of 12. It took me 22 years to save enough money for our first trip to the US. Since that first visit, I work to travel. I love your country and the history. I admire how people explored it, build it and made it their new home. And yes, mistakes had been made. We can only hope the future will be better.

  44. I love my country and our flag. I am proud to fly our flag and celebrate the freedoms that so many have sacrificed their lives for. Even with our flaws and unease at this time, we still are the greatest nation on earth. We need to remember to be kind and not make the same mistakes over and over again.

  47. My country (America) was there when my Husband didn't come home. My husband was Navy and was on a Plane that was shot down. He served the crash, but not the torture. I have know idea how they got his body back, but it meant the world to my children. The Navy has stood beside me as a Widow, and a Mother. Proud to be a flag waving American

  49. I am happy to be an American because of so many reasons. There are way too many to list. Most important is my freedom that was fought so hard for by our forefathers! I love living here and being American! I am a relative of many that have served. Never mind that I am part Native American, Irish, Dutch, French, German and Scotch, I am American, PERIOD! Thank you for your post which is rare these days. Fly your flag and keep speaking up about it.

  50. I am so proud to be an American. Throughout every difficult period of our history we keep trying to live by those beautiful principles our imperfect forefathers so perfectly created. I am so grateful for the promise of America.

  51. I love the country, USA, that I was born in, but less happy with it now as we seem to be losing our freedoms. We fight for what we believe in, we do not normally just lie down and let others lord it over us with their pushiness. We, at least I think so, on the west coast, are Do It Ourselfers. Our ancestors came west struggling to be free from the high cost, crowding, etc back east or beyond. We do not have serfdom in our mentality. We are independent and hopefully still have the right to way and think what WE want to.

  52. FREEDOM !!! OUR INDEPENDENCE ! We proudly fly our American flag along with Iowa flag... USA is looked on as the mightiest country in the world.
