Happy Friday!
Here's part 2 video on a few more of my Patriotic Quilts.
I hope you enjoy it!
Happy Independence Day!
An another note 5 years ago today we lost my mom. It happened to be one day after her birthday. Naturally I think of her birthday on July 1st and her death on July 2.
Even with Alzheimer's I tried to meet her where she was each day. (Took me awhile to figure that out!)
One of my favorite photos. Taking mom out for ice cream after her hair appointment.
Much love
Beautiful quilts and sweet memories of your Mom.
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day!
Lori dulces recuerdo de tu mama ( recuerdo es fotografía con el helado)
ReplyDeleteAlzheimer mi mama también sufrió esta terrible enfermedad.
Bonitos edredones, veo una hermosa manzana
Abrazos
Nice quilts. My mom also passed 5 years ago, on the 8th. Time flies, memories stay.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of you and your mom :0)
ReplyDeleteMemories stay....... I like that!
ReplyDeleteHugs. I was thinking of your mom and her DQ stops with you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day to you and yours, Lori. Great picture of you with your mom. I lost my mom 1 year ago this month and wish I had a picture of the 2 of us!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your quilt show! I lost my Mom July 6 when I was 20 and she was 48 (?). My Dad died many decades later just after his 90th birthday, about July 3. Missed but not forgotten, that is what parents are for us orphans. Appreciate the things we learn from them, the memories, the habits that we learned from them, the music that they loved, the mind set that they taught us, and then share the good with others.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed both Patriotic videos. I never tire of seeing red, white, and blue quilts and wall hangings. It was fun to be reminded of quilts that I wanted to make and have never got around to it like the Revolutionary War quilt - great eagle. Thanks so much for taking the time to share with us all. Looking forward to the QAL.
ReplyDeleteDear Lori... thank you for the share. Mama will be gone on 8 years in October. Such sweet memories. I also love Red, White and Blue. Wonderful quilts and such an inspirational share for the 4th. Blessings.

Sweet story about your Mom, sweet photo with the ice cream!
ReplyDeleteThat was very enjoyable, Lori. You have some great patriotic quilts!
ReplyDeleteThat last photo really struck a chord for me. I used to take my Mom out for ice cream after her hair appointments, but she has not been able to go since Christmas, and on Tuesday we move her permanently to a skilled nursing facility. It breaks my heart, but her care has become too much to handle at home.
I didn't remember that your Mom had passed the day after her birthday. What a poignant time for you!
Thanks for the video with your quilts. There were several that I had never seen before. Of course I love the Flags of the Revolution and I made it too (not during your QAL, but I loved it so much I decided to get the pattern to make later). July 4 is also our son's birthday (who we are visiting now in Florida) and we will leave for home July 5.
ReplyDeleteDelightful! I really enjoyed your quilt turning 1 and 2 :0). I have done many of your sew alongs and have some of those same quilts done because of YOU. thank you Lori for your inspiration. Have a happy 4th of July! God Bless America!
ReplyDeleteBet you'll never forget that ice cream treat. Wonderful picture. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts and such a sweet photo with your Mom!! Focusing on the good memories is definitely the way to honor those we've lost.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Lori! Until we keep them in our memories they are still alive!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilts, some of them are in my ti do list! You are such an inspiration to me!
